The 'Fish Whisperer' does it again!! Haven't fished Doane Pond since the 80's. You mentioned how cold your hands were...ever try tying that silly blood knot for a fly line when this cold?? Last time there, coupla' lil' guys were slaying them with peas on an itsy-bitsy treble hook. I should mosey up there. Just a hop, a skip and three jumps from here in Escondido. The Xmas eve/day is supposed to bring a bit o' snow, might need chains???
@RodneyMarquezFishingChannel5 жыл бұрын
Hey Dan! This pond is such a beautiful place. My family cant wait to go back. It was freezing at the time, and I cant imagine tying a blood knot when your hands are cold haha. I believe the conditions right now 12/26/2019 you will need chains . Have fun!
@danlearned61995 жыл бұрын
There's a pretty nice campground there,. Next time you visit, take a quick drive to pick out favored campsites then make reservations with those in mind. As a Fed. Gov. employee I believe you should be eligible to rent camp gear from Welfare n' Recreation. Everything from basic tent/sleeping bags to small travel trailers. Different bases have different offerings so check around. It's but a short hike to the pond from the campgrounds and don't forget, the Palomar Observatory is a short drive from there. If a techno-weenie or interested in spacy stuff, it's worth the visit. Mom's Cafe at the turn off to the park has pretty good eats IF you like strictly vegetarian dishes. Maybe they'll cook up your catch if you say 'Pretty Please??'@@RodneyMarquezFishingChannel

What an awesome trip and thanks for the tips! We're also heading to the mountains tomorrow:) Last time when it snowed, I saw some trout caught in lake cuyamaca. btw, when I go solo for cold water fishing, I learned to wear an inflatable life jacket after a slip on a snowy bank years back, just for extra safety. You probably didn't need one as your family had your back in this trip, but I just want to share the lesson with other folks who have been blessed with the year-round warm water around san diego 🤗
