Dwight was an unreal talent on the court. The rumors were that he didn’t get along with his teammates. Obviously, I have no idea if that is true but that’s what some people say to explain him bouncing around teams after Orlando. As a hornets fan myself, he was great for Charlotte. His numbers while he was there we’re off the charts and then he got traded for, well I don’t remember off the top of my head but it wasn’t much. Any other player that posted his numbers for Charlotte would have been offered a max contract. Heck, much worse players have been given tons of money for the hornets.

It came from expectations. It’s like if KD didn’t win with the warriors, he would’ve taken the blame regardless if he was good. Kobe had won only two or three years prior to Dwight getting to LA. So regardless that Dwight was top 2 in blocks and rebounds that year and an all star he took the blame. I don’t like it but just stating what happened. The narrative switched with him and teams still tried to build around him such as him being the second option with harden. That further diminished his reputation. If you made Malik Monk a number 1 option he will disappoint even though he’s a quality player. Dwight just got so unlucky with outcomes and situations. (In his later years). 2012 and prior he was a clear number 1 option and played like it, hopefully what I’m sayin makes sense. TMac and Dwight are in my top 75 for sure

My main issues with Dwight Howard was that he never learned how to consistently be a low post player. His main moves were either inside/outside reverse pivots, or the running hook, and he always struggled against the double teams. Even NBA on TNT gave a couple of segments with Shaq and Charles Barkley giving demonstrations for Blake Griffin and Dwight Howard on how to play in the low post. Shaq was demonstrating how to perform the jump hook/drop step, and knowing where all of your teammates are on the court to kick it out for a 3 point shot. Barkley showed where players should be positioned in the low post, spinning off of defenders to run along the baseline, and how to avoid the double teams from coming.

@@codyeble0713 Howard was also getting himself into awkward positions outside of the low post. He was always going up against the zone defenses because he was too far away from the basket. Not only was Dwight the best defensive player, but he was also giving you 20+ppg and leading the league in rebs. Outside of Kobe and LBJ for about 8 season Dwight was right up there.

I'm grateful to be able to have a friend who's uncle knew Dwight and I got to meet him 5 years ago. He was unbelievable and I cherish the moment almost more than the first NBA game I went too.

Even when Dwight Howard was past his prime, he showed out. Lake show wouldn't get that bubble ring without him.

Looka here,,, D Dow was a great center.. always was in shape, monster on defense, very , very underrated at his position. So skilled , he could have played the 3 or the 4..

People who say Dwight sucks ain’t really an nba fan at all. Dude was a walking tank on defense and damn near speedy Gonzales on offense. If he came to the paint nobody was stopping this man, and on defense hardly anyone got past him. I’m sure a lot of us miss that type of him.

I know why they are hating on Dwight Howard Dwight Howard is a amazing player but they are hating on him because he's a little different his sexuality if not the same as everybody else you don't fit in the blueprint of NBA player even though he's not coming out and saying you're gay he is a free Spirit he's a good person😊❤

People following the media and believing Dwight slander. He’s looked like a superhero his whole career … even now. That’s hard work.

They don't wanna crown him as dominant and be in the elite group of greatest 75 because once upon a time. he dismantled the self proclaim king who always been back up and sugar coated by the nba and biggest media outlet.

I went to a game when Dwight was on the lakers with Steve Nash and Kobe was injured. It was like Dwight decided he wasn't going to play and he just jogged around missing shots and not getting back on defence. Since that day I understand why Kobe called him soft. He didn't bring it every night.

Just happens with a lot of scenarios, with time people just start to forget that players used to be dominant at one point or another in their careers.

Dwight should still be playing right now. He is still in as good of shape as Lebron if not better. He could still dominate the paint, block shots get rebounds and benifit a lot of these small ball teams that running 6’6-6’9 centers. The warriors last year desperately needed a big man to take some weight off Looney. But no they ran Draymond at the 5 when Looney wasn’t on the floor. And it cost them in the end. Dwight is and was a monster. Definitely deserves a spot on a team today and to be a top 75 player.
