Its was much more than that. Lukaku is a deep 9 that needs to finish and play forward. With inter it worked because he was a striker together with martinez. With chelsea he has to wait in front because the system revolved around buildup from behind. He also had to deal with multiple defenders blocking him because Werner, Havertz, Mount, Pulisic and Ziyech don't run behind the enemy back line while Martinez does. They just kinda stand there.

This video is pointing out something very important. Look at his pace. You don't see this kind of pace from him anymore. Someone who is used to bullying defenders and speeding past them is going to have a hard adjusting to being beat on the run. The LuLa was so impressive because Lukaku would draw defenders to him while sprinting and still having the awareness to place balls perfectly for Lautaro. We won the scudetto thanks to him. I don't know why he is not fast anymore, maybe because of his injuries, his age, some weight gain, or maybe all three combined. He is in good shape now and regaining some of his pace and form, but he is still a shadow of his former self. He is only 29 years old.
