This is an old trick to prevent glue from drying out at the top of the container by the lid: If you store your glue with the container upside-down, the glue will settle on top of the lid and can’t react with air and dry out where the lid is. Just flip it upright, tap it on your table to move the glue away from the lid, and you’ll be able to open it every time as it was when new. Of course, make sure the lid is on properly so that your glue doesn’t leak out.

Thank you. I use basic Elmer's Craft Glue to glue before stitching and it works great for me. Easily available in the USA and dirt cheap.

Brass Wire brush is best for texturizing the rough side, as it wont remove as much material as sandpaper will.

I would like to know if it is possible to glue leather to wood. I am making a dead blow mallet and want to make one end with a leather surface. If so, what would be the best adhesive for this application?

Hi, thanks so much for taking the time to share these informations in detail. Would you please let me know if Ecostick 1816B and/or Renia Aquilim are waterproof? As I would like to use them for sheos or fabric bags. At this moment I use neoprene glue from French supermarket, but it drys off quickly and it's difficult to clean the brush. Thanks

wow... I'm a newcomer to leathercraft and love your videos for the useful information and techniques. I've a quick question about my glue issues if that's ok? I'm currently using a water based contact adhesive (made by Deco Cuir in France) and having some issues when it comes to burnishing. I'll definitely be getting a glue remove stick after seeing it on your video, but I've an issue even when I cut edges flush after glueing. I start to sand and the glue seems to pull out of the joint and form tiny little balls. When I get these clear then I'll move to burnish and they'll reappear again. Do you think this is down to my glueing technique or the glue itself? (I do apply to roughened leather, both sides, and wait 10 mins). Thanks a million, Phil in Ireland

Do you ever apply a second layer of glue to the surfaces being bonded? I thought Don Gonzales recommended that. But I'm not sure.

I'm only a few minutes in but I was wondering if you've had a chance to compare the tapes here with what Tandy calls "tanners bond"? I'm wondering if there's a chemical difference or not. When I use it it feels like the doublesided tape that I put up window winterization kits with.
@leathertoolz
@leathertoolz 4 жыл бұрын
I think it's different material base on the photo. it's more like sponge like in tanners bond tape. is it correct?
@christopherleblanc5187

@@leathertoolz no... literally just a little flimsy film but it's sticky as hell. If it touches its self you just start over with a new piece. But they charge a bit for it... I wonder if it's the same as window cling film tape that you use to insulate your house in the winter.
