This is the episode they sent to the Emmys and it won best director, best actor and best supporting actor. Brilliant episode, one of my favourites.

They never explain how Keeley figured out it was Sam that quick. However it actually makes a lot of sense. When you look at it from Keeley's perspective, Rebecca went to date the mystery Bantr man, then texted Keeley that Sam was in the same restaurant, then she never heard about the Bantr date, Rebecca probably said some not-convincing lie and try to wave it off but Keeley is smart. She also made all the players join Bantr for publicity so she knew that Sam was on Bantr as well. Plus she has the information that the guy is tall and Rebecca wanting to hide the relationship fornsome reason. When you connect all the dots, you get Sam.

I think this episode encapsulates the damage that the narrative around mental health and suicide has. "They were selfish." "They gave up." They clearly didn't love us enough." "They took their life which is akin to murder and will burn in hell." When really it's not like that. It's an illness that people struggle and fight against daily and has a pretty devastating death rate. We don't have the same narrative for other terminal illness and chronic health issues that can result in loss of life. All it serves is to keep the suffer silent and not seek help and in turn creates a lot of pain, anger and feelings of abandonment for those that loved them. If Ted's dad knew that he was ill and felt safe enough to get the help he needed to be healthy again. There is a very good chance that Ted would still have his dad in his life. Instead we tell people who are suffering to. "Cheer up" "just don't be sad." "Get out in the sun and touch grass." "Stress less." "Stop whining, you don't have it so bad." "You should be grateful, others have it worse than you!" So the person masks, they smile, they joke. They give more than they have to give. Because they are alone in the daily struggle. They don't want to cause the people around them any bother. Then they have that one really bad day. A culmination of years and years of very bad days. They can't fight anymore. They are engulfed in the darkness of their mind and self hatred. The pain is insurmountable. The people who suffer deserve to be mourned. They are warriors that sometimes lose the war. The real tragedy is that they could have gotten help, if it was widely supported and recognized as the devastating illness that it is. Thanks for coming to my "Ted" Talk.

I didn't realize it until I watched your reaction, when Ted is talking about his dad reading the book and telling him the summary, the song in the background is the same song as when he's playing darts. I believe the track is called Dad and Darts.

Took me a long time to figure out how Keeley knew to guess Sam. Finally realized that Rebecca was talking to her on the phone while she was in the restaurant waiting for her blind date. Rebecca mentioned that same was also there.

First of all, I'm early, yay! Also, it is so funny that in season 2, we got an unnecessary amount of information about Ted's sex life because of Sassy 🤨😅😂 All the fun aside, this show never fails to make me cry my eyes out, what a great friggin' episode!
