I have a winchester model 70 270 wsm that I got in 2004. I handled 130 grain sierras and deer normally don't take a step. I have shot 6" steel out to 650 yards.i absolutely love this cartridge. Keep putting out the fun videos.

I love the A-Bolt! Bought my first one in 1991. What you have there is an A-Bolt 2, an improved version of the original. One of the best bolt rifles IMO. Some people don't like the way the magazine works but I think once you get used to it you'll find its a rock solid system.

Own a Browning A Bolt Hunter in 270 wsm. Bought it when 270 wsm first launched. It’s an excellent gun and cartridge. Can’t believe it isn’t more popular. Ammo is becoming a little difficult to find, but luckily I only have to fire it once or twice a year, and I stocked up on ammo years ago! You’ll love it.
@KevinHuff232 күн бұрын
It's not more popular because it offers virtually zero ballistic advantage to standard .270, yet has higher recoil, barrels wear out SIGNIFICANTLY faster, ammo is more expensive, harder to find, and has less offerings.
@MNBuckhunter2 күн бұрын
@KevinHuff23 the 270wsm produces about 200fps more than a standard 270 and has more energy
@KevinHuff232 күн бұрын
@@MNBuckhunter It's actually roughly only 130fps faster, which is virtually nothing, and will have zero discernible effects in real world applications.

Man, I have watched and enjoyed your videos for years and can't wait for the next one to drop, but from someone who lives in Idaho and regularly takes game with a 4-12/4.5-14, I cannot imagine why someone from TN needs 64,000 x zoom to shoot whitetail at 12 yds with all the excess weight. Love you brother!

I deer hunt only in Louisiana and practically everyone here uses at least 3x9 or greater power scopes, possibly because while we don't have the wide open spaces that you folks out west enjoy we do have pipelines, high lines, big fields, and logging cutovers that allow for shots as far as anyone should be shooting at game. Yes, most times our shots are much closer. But I'm with you--I enjoy his videos.

I have the Browning A Bolt SS Stalker in 300WSM. It is a tack driver. The bolt is smooth as butter. Mine has the BOSS on the muzzle. It barks enough to deafen everyone around. Also pounds the crap out of your shoulder, not meant for plinking. Just puttin the hurt on at long range.

My brother and I both have had the 270 WSM. It is an excellent round. My brother shot a Moose with his that dressed out over 900 lbs, and he dropped it in its tracks. I shot my furthest shot at a whitetail with mine. Shot a nice 6-pointer at 456 yards. The caliber is impressive. It does have a little recoil, but not as bad as the 300 WSM. Good luck with it. I look forward to hearing your opinion on the caliber. Maine North Woods Hunter

The rings are leupold, you can keep the base mounts and add the top rings. The front ring turns 90 degrees and will come off and the back ring is held on by the two screws on the side. Thats the best way to get er goin! 🙂

When the 270 WSM first came out, I bought one in a Weatherby Vanguard sporter, and a few years later I bought a Browning X bolt white gold medalion. I could get over 3350 fps with 130 gr. I have a Savage model 16 in .270 wsm. It was the most ammo picky rifle I have ever had. It ended up liking the Winchester Deer Season XP 130gr ammo the best. Good luck with yours and I am looking forward to seeing how it works out for you. I took mine to Missouri with me this year, but didn't have a chance to use it.
@joshuabaxter19922 күн бұрын
I have the same one that’s blued with synthetic stock. It’s been a picky rifle with factory ammo but got 2 different loads dialed in hand loading. One with 130g Barnes TSX, and another with Hornady SST. Brass has been rare to find and almost sold my rifle with all my reloading components for it but found a supplier a few weeks ago that made it more accessible to reload so I’m holding on to it for now.
@rogerw712 күн бұрын
You should compare it to the 6.8 Western also. The 270 WSM is closer to the 6.8 Western than it is to the 270 Winchester. The biggest difference between the 270 WSM and the 6.8 Western is that the 6.8 Western has a faster twist barrel, so it handles the higher BC bullets.

I have an X-bolt in .270wsm. Its a killer on both ends lol Well it was the first and only rifle to uh um....scope me. lol was shooting it left-handed as the deer didn't cooperate fully with my stand choice. I guess the shoulder and cheek weld didn't form up as it would normally, and it got me good. Only 8 stitches. It all but laid the deer into the back of my truck. Chest shot, she stood up on hind legs and flopped backwards down the hill. Missed every rib but still hit so hard it broke both knee joints on front legs. They came off while skinning. That was some serious shock...the lungs and heart were just pudding. I think you will love it!!!

Hey WhoTee! I shoot a 270 wsm as my varmint and coyote rifle. Big scope, light for caliber projectile. Trying to find a good reloading recipe for Barnes 85 grain MPG hollow point bullets. Should be able to get that sucker cooking around 3800 fps. I don't collect coyote pelts so for those who say a .277 is too big or fast, doesn't really matter. But if you ever want to do a video on a light for caliber 270 WSM load that would be cool. The idea was 300 yard MPBR rifle for coyote catchin'. Merry Christmas.

I had the browning A-Bolt in 25 WSM. Great rifle. Took countless deer, elk, and caribou with it from 20 yards to 250 yards. Only problem is that Winchester doesn’t make ammo for it. I can’t remember and don’t have my book in front of me but I loaded 150 grain nosler ballistic tips for my 300 win mag. I think I used 73 grains of IMR 4350 (can’t recall the number) powder. I want to say I got 3300ftps from it. This is what I deer hunt with and the 150 grain is perfect for deer. Super flat shooting and my groups with hand weighed and measured components and bullet seated 30 thousands off the lands gave me hole for hole groups off bags. It’s been my go to rifle for 20 years. My FPS may have been faster I just can’t recall the details without my book but it was hauling buns for a 150 grain I remember that.

Send it off and get it threaded first. Then make sure you find a 20 MA rail.

I was close. Said 300wsm. I’ve been thinking about a 7 WSM, or 7 SAUM, 6.8 Western that’s I think the same as a 270 WSM. Can’t wait to see how it goes. I had a 270 WSM years ago when it came out

The most Awsome short mag in the whole series , That cartrage and a 130 spitzer bullet . One fine Elk killing machine.

Put a EGW Picatiny rail on it. Try the Weaver tactical rings the y weigh a 1/2 oz a price. It makes swapping scopes easy.

No 270 wsm for me found one locally and let it slip through my hands. But do have the little more obscure 7mm WSM and love it!

You're gonna really like it. My friend up in Alaska shot a Grizzly with a 130 grain barnes ttsx at 595 yards and it dropped in its tracks.

That bushnell elite would be nice scope for that rifle. Sometimes less is more.

Was looking at a 6.8 western today, gun shop told me it was essentially a 270 short mag improved 🤷♂️ thought it was a interesting round, rifle was a Winchester XLR

Cool caliber! You should try the 338-378 weatherby. It's an awesome round. Heavy and fast.
