We just tried indian like 2 months ago we just got butter chicken, garlic naan and a kathi roll.. I never ever hear anyone mention those but my gosh that blew my mind. The owner also gave us shahi tukda which was probably the best thing I ever had in my whole life. I've tried all the jarred sauces to make something quick and meh. But so happy we tried it,it's such a staple now ❤

Hi Christine , next time if they have a Chicken Korma on the menu try that. That dish is a good starting point for someone that hasn’t had Indian food before and may find the spices challenging to their taste buds. A Korma is a creamy mild coconut flavour with a hint of sweetness to it. Delicious with rice and a Naan 🤗.

I loved when you said “how does the rice make it better?” Because it does and I don’t know why either! Hope you get to get butter chicken again with naan. I think butter chicken is creamier than tikka masala. Another dessert I like is the rice pudding dish. I am unsure of the name, but it’s basically rice pudding. Indian food buffets are amazing for trying new things. Hope you return for more. Indian food has been around forever, and has so much to offer.

In New Zealand we have quite good Indian restaurants, they mostly will be 'Europeanised' because alot of people don't enjoy the heat of chillies. Like butter chicken I heard was something that was made for European taste in mind (I may be wrong on that though) But there are definitely a few places that are very authentic and absolutely delicious. I love Indian cuisine it's one of my top 3 😁

Thanks for trying out a new cuisine. - wish you had the dosa with the sambar. Coz you knew they went together and it was right behind. Dosa tastes the best with sambar. But maybe that wouldn't have made that big a difference. - samosa, wish you had tried with the green sauce which you liked. And also the brown sauce - using a spoon you could have tried the butter chicken, chicken Tikka and rice much better - wish you had the Naan of course But that's okay 👍, kudos to you for trying something new. And the research you put into it 😊

7:48 curry Comes from tamil word "kari" meaning meat/ a saucy dish made with meat or vegetables. Yes it's a blanket term for a variety of dishes. The powder that's specifically ground for the dish in some regions is called currry powder (mainly outside india in india theres no curry powder). And in india we almost never call them curry its either masala/gravy. Any spicy saucy dish is what the peoppe call curry. While curry leaves have a different etymology coming from "karu vepilai" another tamil word. Meaning black neem. Here the "curry " in curry leaves mean black.

Hi Christine, we love an Indian takeaway in our house! But I’m in England and it is a popular takeaway here. Korma is coconut creamy based and not spicy at all. Then you have medium spicy curries like a Bhuna, Balti, Rogan Josh, and Karahi that you could try. Jalfrezi curries can be hot if you want to go hotter than a Karahi but it depends on the restaurant. Some make their curries hotter than other places 🤣 the karahi from the restaurant near me burns my tongue off. Onion bhajis are amazing with the chutneys too.
