Sometimes I think Jason brings bodies to his mother so he can pretend he has a bigger family and friends, since that’s one of the reasons she brought Jason to work with her at camp. Because Jason’s body language shows he doesn’t enjoy hurting people. He looks lonely and sad.

I had kind of a lonely and isolated childhood, and Jason's reaction to hearing the car drive up and people come out genuinely remind me of how I would feel when I would hear the sounds of other kids playing by my house.

That's an interpretation i can see. I partially always saw it as him trying to please his mother. After all, he didn't die in the original film, he drowned, something back then meant that his lungs only filled with water and didn't imply a death, and his shrine was made after she died. As the whole many of the movies goes on to establish, Jason loves his mother, and listens to her every word, whatever, however, and wherever she says it, and why wouldn't he? A mother's love runs deep, and who says it doesn't reach beyond death, especially if jason themselves made that skip? He beckons to her call, where she can't go herself, and when theres nothing around, he goes rests, like a machine that does its purpose, then stops and waits for it to be needed again.
