I think I'm tired of these "hi-end" retouchers preaching not to use frequency separation because it always creates a plastic look. I'm a photographer, not a retoucher. Don't have a lot of time for retouching before getting ready for my next shoot. Dodge and burn is too time consuming, tedious, and I just don't think I have the patience (or the skill!) for it.

You can get amazing result with Frequency separation you just have to be careful when choosing the blur radius that’s all.
