These beepers are essential! The number of times I would have lost my quad... Big crashes, battery gone. Long grass/trees... No hope of finding. What I did like was the "chirping". My existing ones go straight to nuclear when unplugged which means numerous disapproving looks from wife when working on quad on kitchen table! Ordering a couple

Yeah - that chirp is essential as in most of my quads the beeper will start going even if it's just been plugged in to usb and unplugged again. If you can get to the rounded plastic sounder thing and get your finger over the end you can mute ut quite effectively though. But not if they are buried deep within your builds

Fantastic review, Wayne! 😃 I agree, it's more than enough for smaller quads! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

I hate hearing that - it's why I'm so keen that everyone has a method of finding their lost quads !

Finder mini.. Cool. I like the idea of a smaller self-powered beeper.

Always have a battery backed finder... of some sort - I know too many people with quads that have never been recovered :(

I'd encourage everyone to have some sort of battery independant beeper on their quads - takes all the stress out of crashing and recovery

Good review...i have been using the older (larger) version... which are totally self sufficient (no wiring to the FC required) of these for some time now ...and they have always been reliable in operation...although i`ve never needed to track a quad down by it after a.... loooong search. I will order a couple of these... as the weight saving... keeping below 250g ...would be useful in my smaller quads.

Is that the Beacon you are using if it's standalone. I quite like a standalone beeper as I can easily move it around quads, but I do like to wire in to quads I fly a lot just so I don't have to remember about fitting the buzzer on my lipo (and turning it on before I take off)

@@CurryKitten Yes there Pro's & Cons to both variants... I do have a wired one in my Taycan which works well... And can be unplugged from the F C wires... But to move it would require a wired plug to be available in all the other prospective quads.

i landed my quad 10 ft away in long grass and spent half an hour looking for it after that i have them on all my quads now sorry vifly but i pay 4 pound each from aliexpress every new build gets one because you are spot on i can fly without the worry of wasting time searching in long grass also scared of snakes

Nice one. I'm not concerned about what brand of beeper you have, I'm just happy you have one!
@marinehm

I think they should have added the crash detection feature in that one as well. What a shame! I can barely hear the hellgate beep from just ten feet away. I think that little one is going to do pretty much the same. I'm going to stick with the larger version or the wireless one.
@CurryKitten

I didn't find the crash detection that useful. If the battery doesn't come out, you can trigger it like a beeper, and if it does it'll start beeping. The full sized one is the loudest of this type I've measured, but you could also take a teenager with you. Their ears pick up on the high pitched sounds way better!

I lost a tinywhoop today. I didn’t even know beepers exist. Sigh I wish I’d have found it
@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten 2 жыл бұрын
Oh dear - sorry for this. Whoops are the worst to find as they can disappear just a few feet in front of you. I take it the method of using radio RSSI or using the goggles to hunt for the strongest VTX signal didn't work... again a whoops battery won't last too long for you to try this (and can just as easily eject in a crash)
@calisti9308

Thanks! Yes indeed we did search with control link telemetry and attempts to catch the video signal. Some friends also had patch antennae - but the area was so huge that we still couldn’t find it. I had the are narrowed down via LQ and RSSI, but then all telemetry got lost as probably the tiny 350mah battery was empty. A buzzer with its own battery would’ve saved me , even though the field was still far to huge and the howling winds too strong in the high grass, to find it quickly even if it made lots of noise.
