In 2020 I realized the fact that I was learning English passively rather than actively. I had been reading a lot of books, listening many podcasts to improve my English and that was really a trap. though I acquired many advanced vocabulary that I didn’t use them regularly. Nowadays, I focus on how to write impeccable essays and I record my self while speaking. Memorizing words won’t make you fluent, but moderate reading, listening and intense practice will allow you to reach your intended result. Thanks for sharing with us this awesome and informative video.

One more common mistake is 'a number' vs 'an amount'. 6:09 "I can calculate an amount of videos that I make" is wrong because you can actually count them, so it should be "I can calculate a number of videos I make." I used to say it this way as well . Anyway, great video. It's important to be able to reflect on your mistakes and try to eradicate them 😉

Long ago, I taught American Sign Language for credit at community colleges. I have also taught English 99 & worked with ESL teachers. The "mistakes" you highlight are normal ones. In other languages, they make perfect sense. "I do the skiing" makes sense in French. It's not simply a matter of right or wrong. It's more "that's how we do it here." American English is challenging to learn as a second language. To make it even more difficult, we have regional dialects and mannerisms. "Bless your heart" in the American south carries a different time and message than in California. It would not be heard in Seattle, Washington. This subject has long fascinated me.
