HOW TO LEARN ENGLISH - TIPS TO BECOME ADVANCED

Right! I moved to the states in 1994. I went for a whole year to school to learn English and it was a WASTE of time. I knew all the grammar but couldn't speak the language. So, 1. I started watching tv with subtitles in English. Then, 2. got a new job where people only spoke English. In three month I was able to talk to people and have a conversation. Then everything changed when I decided to go to college. I remember that my first class was American History and almost quit, it was way too hard. We are talking about 1999, we had no Google Translate but Microsoft Encyclopedia Encarta on a cd, lol, yes and dial-up modems. But after a couple of months, things got better and by the time I graduated I was able to speak English. So, my advice to you: don't translate from your language to English but think in English. "Fall in Love" ... that is literally the MOST genius and yes unconventional way to learn the language! I rolled across that last year picking up Portuguese doing it for fun with a random person I met (she had no clue) but I pretended after having met her I was in love with her the whole week and studied the whole week at home to be able "possibly impress her if I were to see her again" ... of course it never happened as I planned but the gains I made being so "enamored" is when I realized the value of falling in love for motivation in a language. Phenomenal. Love that you picked that up and have to courage to say it!

I found listening to music and singing along is a great way to practice pronunciation. Also, if you don't have anyone to speak to you can speak to yourself, I promise you won't look crazy :D Just try to imagine that you are doing a presentation or trying to explain concepts, or tell a story and then you can pick up what words are you lacking and look them up. For expanding vocabulary I recommend reading books.

My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. So i didn't use apps. You just need to focus on it and find everything that you can, you can search english courses on youtube, i mean they are free.
