Great lesson. I once heard some wise advice. Don't chase lag, it occurs naturally as a result of a good swing. I used to do the bad stuff you were showing which resulted in fats, thins and low lefts. Maybe 1 in 5 was a good shot. I now chase shoulder and arm release.

I was the other way adding dynamic loft working in getting the right arm in helped a ton but with anything after 6 months of great results I’ve recently gotten on the wrong side of getting elbow in and love this drill you teach will be doing it to balance out swing again I usually strike middle to toe and recently got a high heel strike it’s how I notice this was the problem

When does the lead arm abduct
@cadefl Жыл бұрын
This is a big problem of mine. I have a very hard time getting the lead arm off the chest. When I consciously do it if really feels like I’m swinging all arms and zero body. Which is counter intuitive to what I hear all the time about using your body in the swing

Hi Kerrod, At minute 4:56 the club head is totally perpendicular to the ground. At this stage of swing, in some videos of yours I see that the angle of the head is already a little bit turned to the final ball impact. What’s the advice in here? Thanks in advance

Great observation. A good reference would be to have the clubface angle matching the spine angle in the downswing by this stage!

@@kerrodgraygolfthanks Kerrod! For beginners like myself I find really useful to set at that stage of the swing the club face angle like you describe, because until we develop a good hip movement, we end up slicing the ball and going permanently to the right with effect. A personal advice would be to make another video being specific on this topic. Thanks for answer and your channel. The best on internet for sure.

The average or even better than average golfer gets into the positions their body will allow. Most golfers can't actually physically move in the way they should because they're not flexible enough. These imperfect positions occur as a best way of fixing a problem with what they have. If you're not using your legs to clear your left hip first, you have to lose the lag angle, it seems impossible to me to hold on to that; try it, there is literally no way of holding lag like the professionals do UNLESS your left hip is leading the swing and cleared/clearing before you deliver the club. Otherwise your hands would need to be soooo far ahead of your body you'd hit all over the place, if you hit it at all. If want to improve your golf, stretch, everyday.

The key phrase missing is those that exaggerate moves are attempting “FEEL versus REAL”.

I have been working for months to fix my swing. What I have realized that I am 150% right side dominant. These means that I have no real ability to drive something with my left side. So this concept did not work for me. I have had to have my coach tell me all drills based on what the right side needs to do. I KNOW that the left arm has to do what you are saying, but my 52 year old brain does not seem to be able to tell my left side how to do anything.
