Hallelujah! Early on when I was trying to learn to play golf, other amateur golfers would tell me "Stand closer to the ball," and that has stayed with me forever. Now that I'm retired, I have spent 100's, if not 1,000's of hours watching golf videos from all of the most popular golf channels here (including a great many of Kerrod's videos), and I feel I had well-learned every fundamental of the golf swing which I needed to play golf well. Yet... I still have inconsistent ball contact and ball flight, and recently, I've had a playing partner tell me "You're standing TOO close to the ball. Your swing is TOO UPRIGHT AND you're coming down across the ball from outside to in." I've been ignoring his advice as I've always heard "Stand closer to the ball," and I was certain that I had properly learned how to "shallow the club." As soon as I saw the video of the amateur where his lead arm rolled over in the takeaway, I jumped up and grabbed a club and found I was doing exactly the SAME thing. Ergo, like the amateur in the video, I was standing to close to the ball, and too upright, and therefore not "creating space" in my swing. I have not yet taken this tip to the golf course yet, but I believe this is going to help improve my golf game tremendously. Thanks much Kerrod and Ryan for all you do here, trying to help us old duffers play better golf! God bless and... press on!

I struggled with this. This is a great drill. Trying to force the "Collin Morikowa bow" at the top of the swing, but it so shallow at the top, there's nowhere to go. Nice video Kerrod, Merry Christmas!
