Yo, just make that comments to let you know that you can use the 1176 as a colorbox (no compression, only harmonics of the transistor) by deactivating the ratio button (if i remember well) or clicking on the "comp off" button at the right of the gui. Otherwise, i found you're channel a couple week ago and you're such a gold mine of information ! You should be paid for all that knowledge you share with us. Shoot out from France and sorry if my english isn't perfect, wish you understand me.

Love that you used a widener on the low end. It's such a cool effect on headphones, Kendrick Lamar - rich spirit comes to mind. I sometimes add some width to the kicks or snares or subs myself. The key is to make sure they're solid in mono. Guitar rigg has a preset called "wide and deep drums", it's a stereo delay/haas effect where you have more control.

good content as usual ,now , I'm not from the rap-hip hop-tripp or whatever these genres are called ,...but man this song sounds groovy and colorful and energy and all the above as hell ,reminds me of the good ol' rock days,this song is im my playlist thanks to you ,and hell yeah that bass makes a huge difference about the feel, dope!!!!

You should update Wider so you can mono the bass frequencies and avoid an unbalanced stereo image but still achieve a width.

Nice adding the Widener, puts the base to the sides so the Kick can sit in the mid. I like to use two tracks for the Base, one for the low frequencies and one for the higher frequencies which I saturate and then blend them together 👌🏼

Soundtoys and for me probably ohmboys stuff (even though they stopped supporting ohmicide and the rest now and made it all free), are plugins that just work. They've been the same for like 15+ years, and are still used just as much as they were back then cos they just do what they are supposed to do, and do it really really well, and sound awesome. Nugen audio stuff are in that vein for me too, but there stuff is more utility, like limiters and stereo fixing plugins the only creative kind of plug in for mixing they have is a reverb, but they have had their stereo placer, mono filter and stereoizer plugs for 15+ years as well, and they are still basically the same but do the job they are designed to very very well.

Im very paranoid about EQing on PP for bass tracks. In this case I can tell the phase adjustment was proportional, but I am always neurotic about it and tend to go lin phase. Also, if you havent tried the chandler germanium, I highly encourage you to try it. It practically synthesizes low end, its insane.

I use Quadrafuzz to do a similar thing in Cubase! It's nice on kick sometimes too, or occasionally on vocals
@SolipsisStudios9 ай бұрын
Great seeing some love for Quadrafuzz! I love the original one so much I used to jerry rig my Cubase to run 32-bit plugins just so I could have it. It's unbeatable on bass and vocals.

Never figured out how to fit quadrafuzz in the mix, thanks for the tip!
@northseastudios9 ай бұрын
@@JazzyFizzleDrummers i often only use one or two of the frequency bands and mute the others, don't feel you have to use them all! i usually set the first band to the body of the bass, then use the third to find the pick attack also 90% of the time i use the tube or amp saturation. hopefully this gives you a bit of a starting point, best of luck!

U know with the cla 76 you can just turn the comp off and just get the color from it?
@panorama_mastering9 ай бұрын
NO I DID NOT! How do you do this?
@django31089 ай бұрын
@@panorama_mastering So I ONLY know how to do this on the CLA 76... As I currently use the DMG TrackComp2 in 76 A or D mode, I havent figured out how to replicate this yet. But with the CLA 76, you press the red COMP OFF button, and to my ear at least, when level matched, its getting the saturation without the compression. The input knob drives the saturation, the harder u hit it, the more distorted it is. Glad I could help!!!

Hi! Thanks for the great videos! I'm hooked on your channel. Signed up, of course. What kind of headphone model is on your desk? I'm not experienced in mixing headphones, but I want to try, can you recommend 1-2 models? Thanks!
