“Never Never” (aka “Nunca Nunca”), despite being short in length, is actually extremely dense and creative. At first glance, it has all the typical “Shakers” stuff - dual unison (Hugo/Osvaldo) vocals that are way too high for a main melody, and falsetto bits that come out of nowhere. But it also has some VERY creative chords and an extremely specific arrangement that creates a distinctive bossa nova feel on the whole track.
It would take too long to say everything creative Los Shakers did with this regular album number, so here’s a quick list:
-Hugo’s solo was definitely an excuse to show off his guitar chops and is super cool
-Hugo’s guitar is syncopated and very bossa nova - the rhythm and staccato are very important here
-Osvaldo’s rhythm fills out Hugo’s part and plays the same chords in open positions
-Pelin’s bass is extremely important and emphasizes descending chords, sometimes playing non-root notes
-Caio’s drums are primarily side stick, and the majority of the percussion comes from shakers (throughout the whole track!) and tambourine at specific moments
-The band ambitiously includes a 3-part D-Dmaj7 vocal harmony during the “doot doot doo” parts which is not easy to do (it’s a bit rough on the record)
-Some unusual chord changes are completely disguised due to Hugo’s high-register guitar riffs (like the E to E minor transition in the bridge)

Excellent performance Nick!!! I appreciate the work you do. Tks. As you say, it's a bit complex song to play and sing even it looks easy. Noo, that's Los Shakers creativity. Unfortunately they were betrayed by the recording company when signed a contract, without previous reading, that stablished 99% for the company and 1% for them. That was the end for them. You can check this info in some videos (spanish) from relevant artists from Argentina that had acces to the comtract.
