I read somewhere the guitar was destroyed when it fell off the back of a truck.

Yes, time to 'update' #5 esp. since it has a happy ending. #1. the bass was stolen froma van in '72, not '69. #2. The bass was returned to Paul [he gave a generous 'finder's fee to the person] and it's been redone to fix various issues, including a cracked neck, that took place over the yrs. it was missing.

Best explanation on YT that I have viewed so far. I own a G6119T Vintage 62-Select Chet Atkins Re-issue and your vid helped me out tremendously. Thank you for posting. If you woulf be so kind when you have the time post a demo of this same guitar with a country Twangy sound/song. Thanks again. just subscribed!!

I wish my squier body was like yours lol. I built a partscaster last year and all my fancy pots, switches, pickups and input jack were too big for the Squier body cavities and I had to shave off a bunch of wood to make them work (apart from the selector switch, which I wired in backwards so it'd fit 💀). Turned out great in the end though!

Great work, it looks really cool. I have a couple of Squier Mustangs. I switched out the bridge on one for a Dynamic Vibrato style one and wired it with the classic out of phase sounds. They are such a cool mod platform.

Cool video though it is kind of interesting that you didn't replace one of the more important and least expensive parts - the nut. The tuners might not have needed to be replaced if the nut was recut or replaced. Still a neat mod though
@NickMartellaro7 күн бұрын
You're definitely right! I'm aware of my skill limitation, and installing a nut properly is just one of those things I don't have the experience or tools to do properly. I was hoping the nut replacement wouldn't be necessary (and I got lucky) - but it a Graphtech nut would be great for tuning stability.

Hi, I finally found a true Beatles enthusiast who knows the history of their guitars well, I have a doubt that has been nagging me for some time, what strings did George use on his guitars? Flatwound or roundwound? There are those who say Flatwound but if that was the case, what scaling? I've tried various brands and scales but they all have a wound G and I can't do the bends, it is said that George used Flatwounds but you changed the G with a non-wound one, is that right?

I'm surprised It's so bright. I've a '76 and it's always been on the darker side. It's all stock but for a treble bleed that I put in it back in the 90's and some 80's Seymour Duncans cuz the stock pups were really under wound and beat by the time I got it. (kids LOL) The 500K pots you put in there would only come into play if you are rolling off the volume, so I don't think that's why it's so bright. You really seem to know your stuff. Cheers, M8!

Cat is young and cutting his teeth on a guitar he can't devalue. That's the best way to learn and make your mistakes before you get into real money and vintage stuff. You have no fear when you can't really break it.
@CavershamGuitars-zo9fi9 күн бұрын
I have to disagree. I'm pretty sure that the Squier bullet has a poplar body, the Squier sonic definitely does. The body and neck are CNC machined to fender spec. With a few changes you have an excellent guitar. I have two Squier Mustangs and they are both really nice to play.

@@CavershamGuitars-zo9fi Yup, love poplar bodied guitars. Prone to denting but I love the resonance and light weight.

@@CavershamGuitars-zo9fi Yes, if the bones are there, mod away and have fun. I didn't like that the routing cavity was so vast here, as the vintage Stangs only had the classic "v" cut for each individual pickup. I assume that is better for the sound as you have a lot more of solid body remaining with a smaller cut out. That said, this guitar is fine.

Nice job Nick, those Squiers are definitely worth putting some work into! Another hack is to twist the pickup leads together for additional hum canceling. Nice to hear some Ventures/Surf tunes, that's fun stuff to play!👍👍

Well, I saw them during a show 1965, Empire Theatre, and you could hear them, but they were done. They didn't care. They could have beefed up the Vox amps. Out of tune, they were studio musicians. People came to see them, not listen to the.

Yeah the black Strat is definitely a source of curiosity. During the Rubber Soul recording sessions, Mal was sent out to get two strats for John & George and both were painted ‘Sonic Blue.’ While I’m not sure what became of John’s, I do know from books I have that George repainted his with various things (including some of Patties nail polish). Anyway, it just seems curious as to why John would have the black strat when he already had one on hand. I won’t go into conspiracy theories about what became of his prior one but we’ll probably never know the full story behind it.

I remember a picture from years ago of George with the Travelling Wilburys and they are all holding guitars. Tom Petty is holding a Country Gent! Could it be one of the missing ones? I'm sure I read somewhere that the picture was taken at George's house and they were all holding one of his guitars each just for the photo shoot. Could you track down this photo to see if you can get the serial number of the guitar?
@joestarr0520 сағат бұрын
That Gretsch only had single mutes. Both of George's Country Gent would have double mutes (one dial up and one flip up).

Well George Harrison used his Fender Stratocaster for 90 to 95 % of the songs he played electric guitar on after receiving it in late 1964. It was his absolute main guitar from Help untill the last album. The guitar George Harrison called ” The worst guitar I have ever played ” the Rosewood Telecaster was not used on Let it be. George rerecorded his guitar parts with his Fender Stratocaster Rocky before releasing the album. The only reason George used the Rosewood Telecaster on the Rof top concert was because he knew the police was going to come and possibility take their equipment. So he took the guitar he really hated ( tThe Rosewood Telecaster ) and used that one. The police could take that one. He gave it away almost directly after the rooftop concert to Delany Bramlet Anyway. George Harrison played a Telecaster. Once in his caree for less than a week than a week before throwing it out the studio. The Fender Stratocaster though was George Harrisons absolute favourite guitar from 1956 untill he died. The reason you dont see the Beatles on stage or in videos with Stratocasters ( songs that were recorded with a Stratocaster which in Georges part was almost all) is that Fender tried to bribe the Beatles manager Brian Epstein who got furious at Fender, and forbid The Beatles to use Stratocasters in public. In the studio Brian Epstein allowed George Harrison to use the Fender Stratocaster as much as he wanted though, and George cerainly did. From the day in the end of 1964 when he finally got his belowed Fender Stratocaster untill he died George Harrison almost exclusively recorded with the Fender Stratocaster. George Harrison tried to buy a Fender Stratocaster in 1956, but because of a US embargo Stratocasters did not exist in England. A very dissapointed George Harrison who had been painting Fender Stratocasters for hours everyday in school as a 12-13 year old boy instead of listening to the teachers had to settle for a Stratocaster copy called Futurama. George continued to try to Find a Stratocaster the years 1957 to 1963 but They were impossible to find in England or Hamburg. Even a tripp to his sister who lived in US in 1963 was unsucessful because her city did not sell Fender guitars. Finally in approximadely September to December 1964 England imported 13 Fender Stratocasters and George bought one of them. At his death They accounted he owned 350 Fender Stratocasters. Stratocasters he had bought himself because The Beatles had a policy of not allowing sponsorship. He was Happy though to be interviewed for 7 days for the official Fender Stratocaster book for 7 days, a book he as a Beatle got the lion part of. George Harrison is considered the biggest fan of the Fender Stratocaster of all musicians.
