As you know, I”m a big fan of the Vanquish and was lucky enough to get my hands on one from Eric Swivel who has his own youtube channel. It was in great shape other than part G-11 which i ended up getting 3D printed. I ran mine a few times, jumped it, bashed it and crashed it and nothing broke. But after a few runs, I didn’t want to push my luck so its now restored and shelved. You have to run it at least once just to capture the beauty of it in action. Nothing crazy.... Regardless, great video. Keep up the great work.

I gave Gavin the same G11 prints that I gave you :) Hopefully they hold up for both of you. I would think under normal running they will be just fine. And I agree, this car is awesome to run, even if in limited quantities.

Regular driving do not kill"em. Jumping does, and out of shape landings. The last years, jumping is the big thing. Brushless, jumping and being fast. Yes it's in our blood, but back in the days when 1700 mah and a black motor was considered as fast, a four wheel drift in the dirt was great achievements. Well we liked to jump our cars, but the tracks had softer dirt, mostly flat with small jumps setting you off jumping probably a feet high at most. My tip to vintage drivers, is to soften up the dampers with softer oil, or more bypass in the dampers and less preloaded springs and more gentle driving. Have we forgot what time these cars was built?

You can also buy broken Tamiya cars on eBay. You can then use the parts from several cars to build a nice car. Of course, sometimes the parts you want on the broken car are the same parts broken on your car too. I was able to do this with the Tamiya Porsche 959. I was trying to restore one but ended up with enough parts to build 3. I was never able to get the Porsche 959 body this way. That body is just too rare. However, I was able to get a set of the original decals doing this. I did eventually get the original body too. I found a seller that was selling one on eBay but his listing was wrong. I gave him the correct information and offered to buy the body at a lower price. He was very happy that I was able to help him out and even accepted my offer for the body too. Sometimes you get lucky.

I also wonder whether to buy 4WD at all? My use is fun driving not something smart on the shelf. I've enjoyed the 4WD Super Sabre, but note a lot of models are 2WD which will give simpler transmission. How different are they to drive?

I wonder how the 2020 release changes the spare parts situation. I have an aging Super Sabre which still runs but I know when it breaks that will be the end of it. My kids now enjoy it, but they're possibly less careful than I was (honest!!) when I was young! The 2020 Vanquish looks an interesting upgrade/replacement.

Hi Gavin, I'm a big Vanquish fan. Got one as my second buggy a couple of years after getting a Hot Shot II. Love both cars - I'll have to liberate them both from my parents' attic. I enjoyed the build; it was a step up in complexity and also a much cheaper way to get some of the Avante engineering. I didn't have any problems with it but ran it a lot less than the Hot Shot II. Who knows what state they're both in after 30 years in an attic? I'll dig them out next time I'm back. You mentioned MCI for body shell and decals. Had a quick peek but couldn't see any there. Love the channel by the way, keep up the good work.
