I play mostly Bongclouds on my account, and I’ve run into this problem. There are a few workarounds, but basically just not playing 2.Ke7 will get you there, and instead playing something that backs up the pawn on e5. (Or play e4 before Ke7 instead of e5.)

There is actually a scandi bongcloud variation that hangs mate on move 3 that I have heard it claimed happened in an over the board game due to the touch move rule. 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Ke2 Qe4#.
