I guess if you buy a charging cable that isn't able to transfer data. It would be also safe. (Cable with only red 5v+ wire and black - wire . No data wires)

Here you go if you want to make some money. Create and patent a little USB thumb drive you can carry with you and plug it into any power port and it will tell you if it's juice jacked or clean. Double your money by making one with a black light and not only can they check the power port in a hotel room, they can also check the bed for stains. LOL

wouldn't theoretically a charging outlet be able steal info too? I guess it would be blocked by your charger not build to read it, but if with a super smart future gan plug it is theoretically possible. Just think of those ooutlet internet or Wifi, ethernet over powerline or internet over powerline

Your wall charger would protect you against this since there's no communication pathway (only AC current going into the charger). However if you use someone else's charger then it's possible, so you should only borrow chargers from people you trust.

hasn't this been going on for years? like almost if not a decade? people haven't caught on? some older generation might be too confused and use a normal power adaptor. anyone under the age of 30 would recognize that a power adaptor would be much faster than a usb in the wall. i can see some people in the middle being fooled but how is it still going on?!

People young and old fall for all sorts of scams, it's a numbers game but you'll always find someone who doesn't know about a particular scam. They do these things because it works.
