Never Seen Astarion This Upset Tav Kills Cazador All Dialogue Choices Alternative Romance Scene BG3

If you kill Cazador without Astarion, be ready for one furious vampire spawn. The conversation is long and you have to make certain choices to save your relationship with him. Astarion is always the one who kills Cazador in my playthroughs, but I wanted to explore alternative options in Baldur's Gate 3. It's a hard scene to watch, but Neil's voice acting is fantastic.

I can't conceive of not taking him, but I can see how others could make that choice themselves.

Honestly, the failure options seem far more in character than anything else. Getting back to Cazador was the core reason of his existence and the Tav takes that away from him, behind his back. There is no way that would sit well with him

I love this, it makes a lot of sense that he'd be so angry because this big important decision, and the chance for closure, were taken away from him. By someone he trusts, none the less. I think he's just like "oh well fuck you" and then he leaves if you're on lower approval with him (IDK I never played it out that way but I think I've seen it in others?). It's cool that you can still salvage things with him, though, there's a lot to suggest that he doesn't want to ascend so he's nsm mad about not having that, and he'll forgive you for taking the choice out of his hands if he trusts your good intentions. Like, you don't even have to pass a check to convince him, you just have to tell him you were trying to protect him and he's quick to calm and trust you. It's pretty sweet and very telling. I'm curious now though how this plays out if he doesn't know about the ritual 🤔 thanks to a glitch in one of my playthroughs I've got him romanced at the end of Act 2 but he doesn't know about the ritual yet, I might go back to that one and see if I can find out.

Yes, I was surprised how easy it was to talk him down. I'm figuring that option is not available with lower approval. This was at 100% and didn't lose any during the conversation, which seemed unlikely. He is much more diplomatic about it than I thought he would be. I liked the dialogue especially, the part where he says "I'll never say you saved me from him, but perhaps you saved me from myself." The failed deception check where he calls Tav out on the lie is so good. More than anything I appreciated the range of emotions displayed angry, relieved, sad, anxious, confused another example of great voice acting. Yes please let me know how it goes with him not knowing about the ritual.

​@@Stellina-takeheart exactly! He's such a varied and emotive character and no matter what happens, Spawn is always overwhelmed with all the big mixed feelings. It's kinda chilling seeing how little it seems to matter when he ascends, it's really interesting seeing how much/little Cazador and the other spawn seem to matter to him when he ascends vs when he doesn't. Completely random but I love how he describes Cazador having a "weathervane mood" but that's definitely something you see with Astarion as well. Granted it settles down after Cazador's death if he stays as spawn but it takes time and he's always emotive. But some of the stuff from earlier scenes, like the "pure shit" scene or the early access "master in the bedroom" scene are just incredible.

@@Stellina-takeheart Aww, boo hiss. Tav's line of dialogue changes ("Cazador was planning some dark ritual, but it's over now, he's dead") but Astarion's responses are all the same. I did wonder if maybe that was a glitch or caused by the same glitch that made my meeting with him and Raphael bug out, but nope, he does kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4XTaGZ7nNV4i6M

So astarian doesn't turn back to a normal elf when the one who turned him is killed? Crap it is not like some Vampire stories :(

What happens if you get to the point of him going to the coffin. Leave. And then bring in Astarion? Does the fight just trigger all over again? Or does he just stay in the coffin waiting for you?

It depends on how much time elapses. Cazador will heal and you will have to fight him again, but without all of his lackeys. Cazador will be standing there alone. The scene will trigger where Astarion confronts him before the fight as well.
