The problem with 680 isn't just because the nearest perfect square is 26 (676). The problem with this one is that the fraction is also cycled, and it's kind of hard to calculate the the fraction of .076 in your head before you find out that it's cycled. So this square got me here

Hey, nice video! Here's a challenge for you, Mahbub -- and anyone else that feels ready: Calculate √546 to 1 decimal place or even 2 (very hard, but I was able to do it!) without a calculator. This one is not as easy as the examples in this video (even harder than √680), good luck! I've provided my approach below, click Read More when you're done. My approach for 1 decimal place: √546=~23+17/46=23+(17x9)/(46x9)=23+153/414=23+38.25/103.5=23+.3825/1.035=~23.4. My approach for 2 decimal places: √546=~23+17/46=23+(17x87)/(46x87)=23+1479/4002=23+369.75/1000.5=23+.36975/1.0005=~23.37. An alternative approach I thought of for 2 decimal places: √546=~23+17/46=23+(17x13)/(46x13)=23+221/598=23+36.83333.../99.66666...=23+.3683333/.9966666...=~23.37. Calculator answer to 3 decimal places: ~23.367. Let me know how you did ^w^
