Looking for a new home for them and their baby, architects Ophélie and Edouard, found Crussol apartment; a 54sqm mid-century home in the center of Paris, surrounded by shops, restaurants and historic buildings. With Edoudard enjoying busy spaces with stories, and Ophélie's clean and simple styling, they blended their ideas together to design a home that feels like a tidy but busy workshop. Taking the formerly open floor plan and dividing it into zones by adding a small glass wall to the entrance and separating the main area into living and dining, and adding a closed off bedroom and bathroom. This also allowed the addition of a separate toilet, and a small nursery and mezzanine. Low furniture with built-in storage and creative additions like a mirrored bathtub help keep the home feeling open and light, and multifunctional furniture in the nursery leaves plenty of room to grow.

Very clever use of space! The awkward little L-branch of the apartment has been well-designed. As the daughter gets older the mezzanine could become a loft bed, with desk underneath, and the toilet in the hall is great for families because then kids/guests don't have to go through the master bedroom in the middle of the night. So often in tiny homes and small apartments the layout works while the child is still a baby and nobody cares about privacy, but with a design like this it could actually adapt as the child grows up.

@@kriskan86 so you shower in one and poop in the other? So much work. It would’ve been best to just make one full bathroom in the bedroom but you could access the toilet by a door in the living room and still have it separated from the main bathroom. If they had to creat a powder room in the hallway I can only imagine the work with pipes and all to reach that location.

@@Lucas-vd2gx Maybe it would be better to "kill" the bathtube of the master suite in the future, thus making room for a proper toilet in its place. I say "in the future" because at the present (baby duaghter phase) the bathtube is actually needed. As the time passes (and the family needs in terms of useful spaces change), I reckon this could be the less expensive/costy transformation to execute - without changing the blueprint as it already suits them as it is. The advantage of having the proper plumbing in the suite from the start when it comes to the suggested change is a real asset (not to be discarded). Just a thought.

Simply gorgeous. I've watched quite a few "Never Too Small" videos and this project is one of my favorites. Whereas I can appreciate the thought and creativity shown by architects of other projects, Ophélie and Edouard created a stunning home that comes across luxurious, yet really livable. Often, other projects are too minimalist for me. I also appreciate their dynamic, how they translated their preferences into a clever cohesive plan. I came away with quite a few practical ideas and points of inspiration.

There are such different cultural views when it comes to bathrooms! For Americans, it seems so weird to separate the toilet from the bathing area but it actually works so much better for space purposes here and also for functionality when you have two areas to brush teeth, get ready, and guests don't have to come into the bedroom to use the toilet.

This one of my favorites on your channel so far!! I’ve binged a ton of them, and although I’m always impressed by the innovative ways a lot of the architects save space and create multifunctional pieces, I feel a lot of the designs lack some practicality (especially for more than 1-2 people) and homeyness. This apartment, however, is gorgeous, cozy, and suitable for not only the architect couple, but a growing daughter as well. 12/10🙌

A lovely design. I especially like the fact that they made provision for their daughter’s changing needs as she grows up. By the time she goes to school it would probably be better to give her a bed in the loft and use the space underneath for a desk, chair and something extra comfy to sit on (like maybe two bean bags for when a friend comes over). The fact that they have the extra toilet and hand basin on her side is very clever too!! They should be able to live here very comfortably for a long time 💞

There is only one toilet. This is France. As such, the "bathroom" is for bathing only and does not have a toilet. She will have to walk through her parents' bedroom to take a shower. I can't see that being feasible/desirable when she becomes a pre-teen.
@laetifico

@@Nyx773I'm not seeing the problem with having to use her parents bathroom to shower? Even for places that have 2 toilets, having 1 shower is completely normal and I'm not seeing much difference between having the main bathroom connected to the living room vs the parents bedroom in such a small apartment that doesn't have enclosed walls.

@@rosiekapun207 I think that's a question of light, safety and privacy. A groundfloor appartement tends to be dark; if it is situated at the begining of the courtyard, a lot of people pass by the windows and it is very accessible to burglars.

Hi never too small!! I really like your videos but one thing always bothers me: why do people speak in English and not in their mother tongue? I'd rather watch people talk more comfortably in their own language with subtitles than listen to them speak in English. I am aware that this would have a cost and that you may not be able to afford it, but they are thousands of freelance translators and/or agencies that I'm sure would be willing to collaborate with you :) I might be biaised as a translator myself but I really enjoy listening to people speak in their mother tongue and be able to display their whole personnality :)

The forward thinking design of the nursery so it grows with their daughter is impressive. It's pretty and cozy. But in matter of practicality it could have been better, imo.. The living room space was to generous in comparison to the more busy working- and walking through- space of the kitchen. Also I would not have opened the bathroom through the bedroom. How to take a bath/shower then, without walking through the bedroom? I don't like all the open shelves either. But that's depending on taste, I think. And yes, the mezzanine should definitely become the daughters space. There's enough sitting space to read already (benches etc.), I think. And the girl will want more space & privacy. But nice bathroom-sink, toilet-mirror and cat-furniture!! ♡ I also liked the L-shaped cabinet/sideboard in the living room and the back on back design of the sofa and kitchen bench. ☆

Absolutely LOVE this apartment! Truly inspirational. Love how they integrated the existing stone into the kitchen shelves/splash back. The only area I’m not too convinced about is the nursery, but I’m sure their daughter will love it in the future

Love this appartment, it's absolutely stunning! Also, the adaptability of the space for when their daughter gets older is awesome. I'd like to know what was the cost of all the renovations that went into this, it would be pretty useful to see if a similar product could be done on a budget (i say on a budget because this looks expensive ahahah)!

Personally I followed their interior architecture projects for a while. They DO have great ideas for small spaces.

Glad to see more small spaces for families! I love the multifunctional cot/change area that will transform with a growing child.

My first thought was to eliminate storage mindset due housing crises caused by governing body and house getting smaller due to unnecessary increase in housing price and just to accommodate 2:adult and a a child or 2 , for family of 4 2 adults and 2 childrens minimum is 3 sleeping rooms , 1sleeping room is for bachelor or couple without any child only this logic and those with me re than 2 staying in a 1 bedroom apartment is called canned example sardines , tuna and cuttlefish in the can 😂🤣😅 WTF wtf I'm 😝 Admiral Tuah 😜 Jebat 🤪 Kasturi 😛 Lekiu 😋 Lekir

I want to see the litter box area in the toilet room! Accommodating pets into small spaces means more design.

this is one of my most favorite design so far. the lighting in this home is so warm and filled every corner. i love their consideration for their little baby girl, the bed that can be used when she's growing up and get into school. the apartment also look so pretty from the outside.
