i would love seeing a buff utility wiz or a distracting dodge tank rogue build. cleric and pally should be able to spec all 3 roles or even the versatility of weapon choice for most classes. id love seeing a 3d paragon for most classes changing things up but i doubt it will ever happen.

100% agree, it's just the nature of mmos. There will always be a best paragon and will even go as far as saying a best class. The real difference maker is the player. The best example of this is warden vs hunter ranger. I personally don't care if warden gets buffed, I don't like the paragon because it feels braindead. If they added some skill to the paragon then I'd be ok with it but would rather them just buff warden to be the aoe ranger paragon since hr aoe is pretty bad compared to pretty much every other class's aoe and warden isn't much better.

My two cents. Take rogue paths for example. The assassin has access to instant consistent damage not needing to rely on mechanical conditions like needung stealth to trigger its feats, so it deals decent damage all the time. The whisperknife path had conditions, you need stealth ti trigger your feats and do damage. So the damage could be more explosive and higher. So they could emphasize more on these themes to maje them shine more in their identity. The assassin could be doing consistent damage while applying debuffs while the whisperknife is building it's stealth meter to deal explosive damage IF the WK player is skilled enough to avoid losing steakth. This way each has a role. So define the paths more. Or, copy and paste the Path Of Exile skill tree🎉. Because that things is MASSIVE and peoples builds would be so unique. Thats just a fun idea obviously. If cryptic expand the feats for each path by say another 5 feats they could focus those feats ob defining thst path more to give each a distinct flavour. Example, for the whispetknife more stealth related feats, for the assassin more debuffs/procs(slightly less damage but more consistent so you can stay in the red more without worrying about stealth).

They couldve combined both paths from certain classes into 1 big tree. We'd be the ones to test it and come up with exploits and/or broken combinations till they announce a nerf 24 hrs later. It could work but also helps the role-play aspect.

so many abilities would be removed i think, a third paragon that changes things up like even choice of weapon like a ranged fighter, tanky or ranged rogue, buffer wizard, tanky cleric, debuffing curse warlock a ranger path with animal companion as druid substitute with heals or ability to have the companion tank. doubt well see the day though

If memory serves, in the old system you could use your feats to create one of three paths. Even a combination, which was awesome. You could make a tanky dps, a buffing tank/dps/healer etc. The new system is better for tanks and healers, because forte and HP. That said, we’ve been in a constant rotation of nerfs and buffs for every class which seems to have no end. But, they’ve been mostly buffs, which is always appreciated.

The way I have my ranger configured, the Hunter paragon is geared towards single target damage and my Warden paragon geared towards AoE damage. I will switch back and forth based on whether I'm about to fight a lot of mobs or I need to concentrate on taking down a single powerful boss. In general, I think each paragon should be specialized to do something better than the other paragon so that there is a reason to switch back and forth. I think each class should be balanced not by making them all equally powerful superheroes, but rather by giving each class it's own unique strengths and weaknesses (sort of like rock, paper, scissors) to encourage people to team up to cover each other's weaknesses instead of every class being able to solo most things. PS: I picked the ranger class because I wanted to play a ranged character who shoots arrows. I refuse to use the melee option on that character. The only time he swaps to that mode is when my fingers get in the wrong position and I accidentally hit tab when I was trying to hit Q.

I run a Wizard, I know Arch is best for single target but much prefer Thaum as in large Trials with multiple mobs I can debuff multiple targets.

But yah unles a NW 2 comes i think we are stuck with what we got and besides i dont blame the company as well when you think open minded you will understand but yah solution is a new game new company, while talking in old empolyees to help and pay them also content creators like you guys.

Just from the Title alone I do agree, there is no purpose to them and I have yet to watch the video my secondary thoughts will be in a reply comments to this post. Currently in the state of Neverworking, Neverworking: As Intended Edition it is extremely watered down to the point there is only 1 build per dps class, not 2, not 3. Atleast prior to mod 16 we had a reason to have multiple loadouts, eg the Guardian Fighter we had Tacticians and Conquerors, maybe the rare mongaloid of the straight tank paragon but there was a need for both of the Conqueror god king of the sub 10 second burst 1 phase of I came my jorts central, boss is fucking deleted lets continue the run and the Tacticians how would you like 100% uptime on Into the Fray and a 2 second cooldown on commanders strike? oh wait you'd also like guaranteed godmode lemme chuck on knights valor FOR THE WHOLE TEAM AND DEFLECT THE FUCKING DAMAGE BACK AT THE ATTACKER? Easy bro I got you covered. Nowadays I maaaay change AN encounter depending on class, on HR I put Gushing/LSS over Plant growth for ST, On whisperknife right now I change nothing etc. Feats never change at all between loadouts, same with the "class features" too which also suck haemorrhoids to their pre 16 counterparts. Also why is bard so shit and is getting a nerf (mirage weapons are 30% of total bard dps and mirage is getting the guillotine...)

Definately you should have those dps paths merged. Then give the other path a buff path. And those array of powers would be great if merged as nice selection. I think dps builds should have that kind of selection tbh

I actually like the dual paths for my Wiz, I like my Arcanist for solo an older dungeons an my Thurmature for the new an Master dungeons.

Two ways to fix that in my opinion. 1. Make each paragon have distinct roles (for example one range and one melee path for ranger or one single target and one AOE path for rogue) that dont have common skills or abilities. 2. Create a fourth role added to DPS, Tank, Healer so that you you can add a non DPS path to these classes. I cant think of a rogue being a tank or a healer and a wizard being a tank so maybe a support role the idea of multiple roles to a single class.

wiz could be a great buffer. rogue could tank by stunning, dodging and stealthing on moments where other tanks would block.

Classes with 2 paths that do different functions are more costly as you need to maintain 2 sets of enchantments / insignias / companions etc. which are very costly. I think one paragon for each class with various expanded talents makes more sense.

Alot of people here talk about pre mod 16 and post mode 16, but most people weren't here before mod 16. The pros for mod 16 is that it helped with class balance by alot than pre mod 16 system ever done in 16 mods, by narrowing the choices and not changing too much from playing a class the changes in mod 16 were a success. Now some pros that came with mod 16 were some classes have 2 paths that play differently tank or dps , and dps or healer, two clear choices that can fit in the holy trio meta that came with module 16 changes. Now for the classes with 2 DPS path, it is only developers fault for not making them more unique in their playstyles. In Lost Ark classes have 2 paths aswell BARD got a dps path and a healer path But for classes that are just DPS such as Assasins (theres 4 classes Deathblade, Soul Eater, Reaper and Shadowhunter) their DPS paths play completly different from rotations, powers, stats they need to build, but to give u a summary some of them have 1 path that will deal full burst with 1 strong spell, while the other path lets you use ur spells at a faster rate and the dmg is split in the whole rotation. Where Neverwinter failed mainly is when they executed module 16 with these changes they haven't managed to rework abilities, give proper buffs and create playstyle accordingly to have sense, and neither the content they released isn't built in such a way to accept builds like that, the meta in neverwinter is the TANK is in front of the BOSS while the other players will attack the ass of the BOSS. So yea.. alot of abilities to choose just makes the game harder to balance, that was wrong with pre mod 16, bcuz 80% of abilities , class feats and paragon feats did not work, or they were broken as hell, and whenever they would've buffed/nerfed something in the build, everyone was just swaping to that new ability. Now atleast U can play A DPS cleric and a healer cleric both viable, a dps fighter and a tank fighter that is viable. But yea still feel sorry for wizards, rogues, rangers for not having a 2nd path to make both paths feel different and exciting to play.

Just an example to give for Rogues they could ve made them like this One path to be focused on 100% dmg, self buffed etc. The 2nd path to be around 75% in terms of dmg compared to the first path, but the remaining 25% it could've been focused into increasing the party dmg by 25% in buffs and debuffs. This way both paths could be played, and be beneficial of one another, and the 2nd path would ve been a choice for noobs that do not try that hard.

Poor translation from the theatre of the mind.... noice! Almost poetic. The point that there isn't content to support the variations that could be there is legit. If the content isn't there then the challenge of keeping them interestingly different is that much greater. And the difference in play-style - so far at least - has been much more of the 'one works, one doesn't' variety. I wonder if Cryptic have set themselves a challenge they can't afford to try to meet.

I mean aoe dps amd st dps is actually dumb, One dps other cc dps, or one dps other semi heal but more damage dps, or dps and semi tank dps. dps cc, dps summoner. so many combo. Buldur gateeeeeee
