It's also the style of play. The last few years they press every game. That leaves you more exposed. So even though they were giving up fewer shots, they were giving up high quality shots because if you press high, you are more apt to give up 1v1 chances, where as when you sit back, you will give up more shots, but lots of those will be from hopeful crosses or long shots.

It’s just a shame every time Liverpool seemingly go for the title, most of the other teams seem to pick up their game. There’s never an easy run for them like the one Chelsea had (under Jose’s second spell) like the one city had last season (even though they were so good, United never looked like challenging them) like Leicester had (Tottenham only started challanging towards the end but were still quite some distance behind). It's probably to do with how most teams play 'Pool too but bar Milner n recently Keita starting to gel, the midfield haven't had that same level of creativity or threat. They're still intense asf and the full-backs have been phenomenal so it doesn't show as much on the scoreline.

I am a United fan and have seen Liverpool play for the last 20 years. The thing that I can say is that even though people are mad about your attack being not as good as last season, the thing which deserves more attention is the defence. Attack does not win you titles, even if you score lesser goals but concede incredibly lesser, you'll still do well. I remember the season after Ronaldo left, we won that title purely on defence (Vidic , Ferdinand)..Liverpool haven't had a title worthy defence for a long time. Also, another thing which I observe is your performance (efficiency) against the lesser ranked teams. I have seen Liverpool play well against big teams and drop points against smaller ones in the past but that is another major difference. Title winning teams just know how to win even if they are not playing well and that is something which you guys are now doing in some matches. It will still be painful to watch you win the league though and City still has better quality in terms of squad depth for the crucial times ahead.

I think LFC will win unless they're gutted with injuries, for 3 reasons: 1. Unlike the other "nearly" seasons of the past 15 years (2008-09, 2013-14) this squad haven't suddenly sprung to prominence this season. They've been steadily building the past couple of years since Klopp arrived and you've seen them consistently improving- from making the UCL Final, to qualifying top 4, to qualifying again and reaching the CL Final at their first tilt back in the Finals. Their resurgence hasn't come as a surprise, with all the sudden hype from the media and fans wondering "Is this really their year?" This time, they look more prepared. 2. City have been banging in goals, racking up big scores against other teams and playing near their very best. But they haven't had too many close scraps this far. They haven't been challenged too much. LFC, on the other hand, have been in their share of tight games- they know what it's like to win those low-scoring pressure situations. Even despite rarely playing to their very best they now sit clear leaders- and they have another level in them. 3. Man United used to win games at the death or find a way to get the 3 points even if they didn't play that well. This is what brought them League titles, and LFC are now winning in much the same manner...

Klopp's correct assessment went unnoticed. One reason for LFC not scoring as much as last season, is because most side's know how deadly LFC can be on the counter, thus they don't overplay, and do their utmost to stop it(often by illegal means). On the flip side, it also means that the defence has a better premise, because opposition is more cautious, when they attack.

Look in all fairness , I wish klopp could've gotten us here without the big bucks , but he had to adapt or stay fighting for top 4 , more like 2 3 4 spot . He went out bought the players that he wanted, waited for the right player VVD keita n Alisson , then trusting the likes of Robbo , TAA and due to increasing competition players like wijni n Millie stepped up . People like studge n origi who were forgotten men , they earned us 4 points . So yes klopp effect but the team has really stepped up . + How klopp has rested and altered the style of playing , has helped players stay fresh and management of game has been brilliant . Touchwood
