I wouldn't discredit Salah in the first half of the season. That was a ballon d'or worthy display. He tore up the league. In FPL at least 95% of people captained him week to week because he was so incredibly consistent. Son har flared up in the later half of the season, while Salah never really seemed to get back on track after AFCON.

@@natwan32 I really hope to not come across as salty here because I only have the uttermost respect for both klopp and Liverpool (and in particular their achievements this year), but here's my point: - Firstly I'd argue that city have been the better team in the league this season (despite your incredible tenacity and incredible comeback), which makes us the better team in the best competition, and this is also whilst having a worse overall team (we've legit flipped since 2018/19 lol), and also being at the top of the league is much harder because 2nd place knows what they need to do, and this very psychologically draining over the course of a season on the players in 1st. We've also suffered worse injuries this season which have made it far worse for us in that regard, but that's football, happened to you guys last year. - Then I would argue that city didn't play Chelsea in that final because we played an awful team against you. We needed to rest our players and this again comes down to the lesser squad depth imo. - Lastly I'd argue that we were just extremely unlucky in the ucl this year whereas yours has been comparatively far easier. So fundementally, for me at least, my reasons are excuses for pep not having done well, and while I think they're legitimate, it doesn't mean that what klopp has done isn't anything less than incredible. My point is that, pep is excused, but nonetheless Liverpool have done better over the year. So for me it is somewhat debatable.

Not that I disagree with Gary, but they're interesting comments from G.Nev about Robertson given he didn't really didn't rate him that much at all 3-4 years ago. There are probably half a dozen left-backs in the world more technically gifted than Robbo, Cancelo included, but the guy's ability to keep marauding up and down the touchline in every match and give at least an 8/10 performance weekly is second to none. He'll rarely stand out from the rest in his team like TAA will, but he'll rarely put in a stinker or be caught out of position either. He defends really well and has provided double-digit assists, season after season now, for the last 5 years. He epitomises what a modern full back should be : solid defensively, got a massive engine, and offers just as much going forward.

Trent is amazing but when you are talking about England specifically its important to remember that we don't have the same players as Liverpool and we don't have Klopp as manager. That Liverpool team has been running like clockwork for years now, the way Trent would be made to play for England would be very different to his role at Liverpool so that's why Gary made the point he made (I think). He specifically said for Gareth, even if Trent is the better footballer it doesn't mean he's better in Gareth system that he wants to play. If you watch West Ham Cresswell plays a similar role but its very specific to Creswell and its because West Ham have players who support him, Cresswell wouldn't be half the player he is if he wasn't given the freedom to actually get forward and use his technical ability. I feel like its the same for Trent is a lot of ways. If you make him a traditional right back he instantly becomes worse than Walker and James. That's not to say he is bad defensively but Walker IMO has been the best RB / Top 3 in the world for years now and Reece has been SOLID for Chelsea.

Son has had more goals than the "expected goals" stat every season since arriving at Tottenham. This season he has way more than "expected" (21 vs 14.55), he manages to score goals from difficult positions, because he's absolutely clinical and has that killer instinct. Most players score less than "expected" (eg Salah has 22 vs 23.2). De Bruyne is another player with more non-pen goals than "expected".

The fact that Romero won Defender of the Year in Serie A for Atalanta, a team who scored the most goals in Europe that season and a team who puts 7 men in attack consistently, shows his quality. As a Liverpool fan I can safely say Salah doesn't deserve it, nor does KDB. Salah had a great first half and meh second half, and vice versa for De Bruyne. It is simply between Son and Mane, Son has the numbers, Mane is six off fair, but in a team full of goalscorers 16 is quite impressive. Mane's all round contribution and play is immense, changing his position from wide to central mid season alone and going up a gear, apart from getting the goals far superior to Son, so depends how you want to judge it.

However if you look over the premier league season, Salah has a goal contribution every 76 mins compared to KDB's 96mins and Son 98mins. Now you could say that penalties have influenced it. But these guys have much better access to stats then the general public but they so rarely use them. Maybe there is a stat that takes KDB and Son above Salah for a season performance but it's not goal involvemnts p90.

Ronaldo is 37 in United's worst squad in 30+ years. Kane is 28 and playing for a pretty decent Spurs squad with an elite manager. Kane is an unreal player but would be interesting to see if he is putting up them numbers at 37. I doubt he will

Kane and Son are the most influential players among the top 4 teams. Without the two, Tottenham would have been located below the middle. They eventually sent Tottenham to the Champions League. On the other hand, without Salah or KDB, the two teams would still be competing for first place. I think the MVP deserves the player who makes the difference. Just my opinion :)

If you've watched any of their punditry over the season it's clear that they don't like Arsenal. I think it stems from when they played - Henry & Co roasting Carragher regularly, obviously Neville was part of that huge rivalry with us. See the gloating and cheerleading when Brentford beat us first game of the season, to the constant 'I don't trust Arsenal' mantra from Gary, despite us finishing above his precious Utd.
