I agree, John. As you might guess from the rest of the site, videography is by way of being my trade, but the filming and editing on these is entirely Steve's work. I’m discovering your back catalogue. An absolute joy to watch. Whenever I see an A4 - especially an LNER blue one I can’t resist the comparison of the look with a TGV Duplex. Alstom and SNCF really didn’t do anything new. Especially when you consider that Sir Nigel also came up with the high speed streamlined articulated coach set back in 1935. SNCF considered it a revolution when they introduced the first TGV SE sets back in the late ‘70’s! I’d better get back to work I guess. That’s the problem with home working. I really should be looking after station security for the SNCF 😂. Oh well, let’s just say it was during my coffee ☕️ break.

Glad you enjoyed it Robin. If want more then you should click on the link in the description and go to Steve's dedicated channel which is going great guns, and has some amazing new videos on it. I was merely helping out by hosting some of his early films, while he set up his own channel. Interesting what you say about the coaches which I'd forgotten, and of course the A4 body shell was right up to the minute with Sir Nige's pal, Bugatti, helping out. Mind you, I've had some wonderful trips on TGVs with the sensation of floating over the track, and on the Paris - Brussells service (Thalys?). Short on the romance of steam, but long on luxury. What an interesting sounding job you have!

Fantastic work, what did you use for the buffer beam numbers? I find myself doing 4492 in LNER Coronation livery and I have been left stumped as to where to get those numbers from? Thanks

Hi Norton, I just checked with Steve who sent the following: "They were part of a Transfer pack from Fox. The pack also includes transfers for the cab side and LNER branding. However they were redundant in this case as we used the stainless steel digits and figures- also by Fox. To my reckoning the bufferbeam transfers are slightly too big compared to photos of the real thing, but closer than the originals in the Hornby model". Incidentally you might be interested to know that Steve is setting up his own "Neville Grove" KZbin channel, and I'll post something when it's ready. Hope this helps

@@MrTBrearley Thank you very much! I have found the FRH4300/2 which fit the description and I found their stainless Steel letters. I'll get them ordered today, can I ask how they were applied to the cab & tender sides? But thanks so much as I've wanted to do this modification for a while now! Cheers Tom

Just perfect ! It all comes together even in OO scale. Love the whistle of the 'Dominion of Canada'. Sounds more like a 'Nathan' American type of whistle... or I have this wrong ? Thanks for sharing & greetings, Filip
@TallboyDave
@TallboyDave 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% sure, so correct me if I'm wrong, but each of the "Coronation" A4's had a whistle taken from an engine in the country that they are named for- "DoC" has a Canadian whistle, "DoNZ" has an NZR whistle, and so on.

@@lucasquintanilla1673 I don't believe so? She was outshopped as one of the general use A4's, named "Golden Shuttle"; so I think she kept the standard A4 whistle even after renaming.
@lucasquintanilla1673
@lucasquintanilla1673 Жыл бұрын
@@TallboyDave I remember that it was originally called golden shuttle although before that there was another name specifically Woodcock that was considered for it. While it is a streamliner, and I prefer most streamliners to be colorful, I wish that Dwight D Eisenhower would be painted in the black war time colors It had during the time of its use by its namesake during the war. I mean I know that either sir Nigel Gresley or bittern had recently been painted in that for a brief time, but I think if any of the locomotives deserve that paint scheme, it’s Eisenhower. Also, even though it never got fitted with an American whistle, what US whistle do you think would have been most fitting for it?

Was dominion of Canada ever fitted with a Canadian whistle?
@NEVILLEGROVE
@NEVILLEGROVE 2 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed it was, until 1949, whilst Dominion of New Zealand was fitted with a NZSR "five chime" whistle which was carried throughout her LNER and BR career. Commonwealth of Australia was also fitted with a Western Australia Railway whistle during her last years in service. Apparently, between 1942 and 1945 these non standard whistles were removed so as not to be confused with air raid sirens!

I particularly notice that there's no discernable wobbly in the coaches whatsoever, which is almost never seen in a model of any scale.

@MrTBrearley
@MrTBrearley 2 жыл бұрын
I helped Steve set up his KZbin channel a year back and before it was ready I had uploaded several onto my site. This video was uploaded the day before Steve's site went live and was intended to let everyone who'd enjoyed his videos on my site (about 50k at that stage?) know that they could now find the videos on his site. I've since uploaded the odd trail on my site, but his is now well established as you probably know. Hope that answers your question.
