As a geologist (still in uni) I gotta say, those rock formations are amazing, their strike and dip make sense, and the way that neighbouring outcrops have angles that would make sense if you reconstructed their formation history through folding and erosion. Just amazing environment building. Also, I can't imagine what an operating session would look like. Pure insanity

I was likewise very impressed with the rock work. I wasn't looking at fault zones or anything, but it felt organic enough that it worked well. I may not be getting up enough to the San Juans to offer much more in terms of help. Gonna have to do something about that!

I'm still glad I was able to get things together for this video to be possible. If there was more free time to do things and if the track were clean, it would have been amazing to get something running around the layout for the video. But, also, it's nice to have a detailed and updated video on Eddie's layout that'll make sure it's at least immortalized for everyone to see.

Not only would I like to see Eddie start a channel about his layout, I'd somehow squeeze the money out of my budget to be a channel member. That layout is amazing, and, because some of it covers Pennsylvania, and indeed, Pittsburgh, where I used to live, I'm sure I'd see plenty I was familiar with too!

I'd love to see how he makes those switches and bridges. All the maker KZbinrs I've seen have said that trying to record their process to a high standard about doubles the time everything takes, though, so I'd warn him of that. But if he were to do tutorials of all the different techniques he uses, and showcasing some of the cooler parts next time he has the tracks all cleaned up to run trains for an open house, yeah, I'd watch that.

My father and I are building a model railway (with a narrow gauge, standard gauge and a cog railway in one layout, one mixed train station) for nearly 20 years now and we still haven´t finished it (probably because of my dad having spontanious ideas for changes we obviously have to make). And we don´t work on it that often so that is also one of the causes for the building time.

@@Hyce777 Don´t know yet. We´ve just finished the first bit of scenery. But the only thing we do now is testing everything if it still works. We´ve nearly set this whole thing on fire two or three times already and we are replacing a LOT of stuff. We also have over 100 locos that need to get a decoder installed (something we like to do ourselves) so we can run them digitally. Some of these locos are double as old as I am (the oldest one is around 50yrs old, that´s older than the servicelife of some irl trains at the ÖBB)

This was a serious jaw dropping moment, Mark. My brain was in overload! Magnificent is the only word that comes to mind, and to echo you, awe inspiring. Choo choos aside which were fab, the background scenery, was absolutely stunning! All those beautiful bridges of varying construction types and sizes were impressive. And the buildings-loved that crescent shaped roundhouse! The scenery scenarios were recognizable and so authentic. I loved the dual level setup and even the different tiers in those. You could literally get lost in there running the trains about. I so loved this beautiful tour! Many thanks to Mr. Carroll for inviting us in to see this masterpiece. He was a charming host for sure and I enjoyed hearing his interesting stories about how this all came to be and the true artisans he became acquainted with. OMG I’d so watch any video he might post about his layout! Mark, thank you and crew for making this video; it was triple spectacular!!! Looking forward to the next installment. As always, Professor cheers to you!

Wait.. you able to run both type of trains together with the off-set couplers?... the lay out and scenic out looks is mind blowing, so much detail put in to it.Even the mountains and tunnels and cut thru.. god.. @_@ As well Eddie Carroll sound very lively and you will get a nice good laugh what im hearing from the vid. Every turn you can see Mark expression is like little child dreams lighting up like Christmas tree but the turn is mind blowing scene.

Hey Hyce. Nice to see you made it to Eddie’s layout. Wish I couldv’e been there with you all but I had to be at work that day. I’m one of Eddie’s regular crew (have been for about seven years now) and I’m there every other Friday. I always have a passenger train or two (or more) when I’m there. Your friend in north Texas who drives light rail in Dallas will confirm that (don’t want to publically say his name). Hope you can make it out there again some time when I can be there. Eddie has a public open house every year just after Thanksgiving, so hopefully you can make it back then. Thanks for the exposure. Eddie’s layout really needs it. Some of the more memorable moments for me… “I hope nothing derails over there.” Yeah about three years ago my Panama Limited crashed in that scene. “Roundhouse there and roundhouse there… I wonder how much layout is in between them?” 😁 “Oh look at this cut. I didn’t even see that.” I have a short home video of my Cab Forard pulling a Daylight passe ger train through that cut. Would LOVE to see a You Tube channel about the Glenbrook Valley railroad (that’s the official name of Eddie’s railroad).
