Nevius Street Dam Removal - Part 1

Part 1 of the Nevius Street Dam removal on the main stem of the Raritan River in central New Jersey, which was completed between July 24-31, 2013. This project was the third of three planned dam removals (the others were the Calco Dam and the Robert Street Dam - see those videos on KZbin also) that re-opened nine miles of historically significant spawning grounds for American shad and other migratory fish on the Raritan River and the lower 1.5 miles of the Millstone River (in addition to numerous tributaries). This fish passage restoration initiative was managed by John W. Jengo of MWH on behalf of the Kinder Morgan, Inc., who is funding the project.

I’m about as far from an “eco hippie” that so many complain about in these video comments as you could imagine. I personally thing dam/unused structure removal is a valid exp,enditure tha is win-win. Where’s the down side. And man, that dude in the kayak REALLY gets around. 😎

the tune is apropriate. im excited for the flood this spring. hey john i hope all is well. its been a rough winter as far as temp. tell Olaf i said hello also. 26 52 7 364 +1 day of rest=365 i been studying differnt mechanics. id like to discuss maths and emperical data (not exact numbers) just to understand it. when you fish something for so long and its gone one gets indiginified. however the ice floe, and i believe floods will come. im going to repost some vids of fish again JUST for Olaf his crew aswell as your crew. i have alot of data to assist the dept. i wake up and walk that river to my chest for 8 hour days. at least 5 days a week. if you need to know any spots so you can target species to sample. let me know.
