One of the best LEAF reviews I've seen - in depth and nicely filmed/produced, loving the longer video too

Just watched this video series again almost a year later having finally purchased our first EV (2018 Leaf 40kwh). Thanks for yet another honest, informative and enjoyable video. Regarding your channel in general, I have been following all the EV news (Fully Charged, EV News Daily etc.) for years now, and I can honestly say that you're content is every bit as good as those long established channels, and certainly the best automotive channel in Ireland.

Really interesting review, thanks Derek. Also enjoyed the local insights and thoughts about use case (city vs. "one bus" town life :-) Keep 'em coming 👍

Nice review of the car. We have 2 62kWh Leafs, which replaced a 2013 Leaf and a family van. There are very steep discounts for the car, which makes it as one of the best values in the medium range EV market.

Looking back at this review, as was interested seeing so many Nissan Leaf Taxis on the Road in Dublin the past year with the large grant available to them. Taxi drivers always go for value and reliable cars. Also noted the EasyGo are still installing Chademo and Ecars still putting Chademo pretty much on every Charger, so looking ahead a Leaf may still be a great buy Ive started usIng the EV Charger Additonal Search Option now available on AirBnB when booking accommodation, so with a 62kwh battery you wont need to charge at all during the day on most journeys in Ireland and just get a full charger Overnight at your Accommodation that you book ahead to use.

Hi Derek what is the range of the 40ks and 62 kw. I have a 24kw leaf it is good for a 2nd car or a run around I am thinking about changing our Mazda 5 1.6 diesel to a ev what would recommend I have a budget 20 to 25 k to spend thanks.
@NevoEVReviewIreland3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question Patrick. What daily range do you need on a regular basis? EV Database is saying a real world range of 225km and 325km respectively for the 2 LEAFs you mentioned.

Great video. Keep up the good work!!! Can you advise me about the fact that the Leaf does not have any system for cooling the battery, which over time, due to rapid charging or overheating after long distances, can lead to battery degradation. How to prevent it? Thanks in advance and greetings from Norway :)
@NevoEVReviewIreland2 жыл бұрын
Hi Zorrely. Thanks for the comment and glad you liked it! Only way to prevent us using the rapid charging as little as possible. Not easy if you do a long journey. Are you monitoring State of Health of the battery?

@@NevoEVReviewIreland I am honestly thinking about which car to buy and I have a dilemma. Whether the 62kw leaf, the IONIQ 38kw or the MG ZS. Something in that price range. All of those three have some shortcomings, but the MG ZS from 2020 stands out as perhaps the favorite. Although IONIQ also has very good performance.

Good video, I would not say that Motorways are not the friends of EVs :) I will concede that when I had the Ioniq I did limit myself to 110 kph, but with Model 3 SR+, Kona, Niro etc the battery size vs the size of this country means "motorway speed" should be back on the menu!

I agree jusmeig. I will stop saying it in future as your points are correct.

Hi . Love the video ... no one is reviewing these cars with a full load. So 2 adults and 3 big kids and a bit in the boot .. what would be the range? .. thanks

Thanks for the comment John. A great idea but it's getting a family to sit and be recorded for the journey or having a family in the first place to do it with!

Sorry but this was an incorrect title as it was not a review of the nissan leaf but a social comment on elevtric vehicles featuring the nissan leaf. I note others do not share my opinion. Did you mention the batteries are not liquid cooled? And surely when selecting a vehicle the efficiency and range are major considerations. I thought you should have given the difference in ranges for soul nero leafs etc. along with costs.
@NevoEVReviewIreland4 жыл бұрын
Sorry you feel that way Des. I did wander but felt I covered the car in detail also. I appreciate the feedback and will be more concise in future when I class them as reviews.

Not a review at all couldn’t base spending €32k-€42k on this review. No charge speed, no demonstration or it’s ability to find charging point. No review of useless sat nav. No mention of rapid gate or lack of. No mention of battery cooling or ability to cover 500kms or not.

@@bdeithrick Byron love your name. We had a horse named the same so i know you are a lovely person. Yes would have likes more along the lines of your comment. We need to see the comparisons to know how the car stacks up. It is an expensive car and I think the new ID3 will outclass it. But then the ID3 will be a new car against an upgraded 10 year old car. The new ARIYA (not sure of spelling) from nissan will also outshine the Leaf when it arrives. But at what cost? I also think a the current leaf will be replaced by a new model. Will the current leaf be discounted in 6 to 12 months time? This should be a consideration for any purchaser. Enjoy DES

Thanks for the comment Byron. I'll take all the feedback onboard.

I'd say the Ariya will be the LEAF replacement and the I.D.3 will definitely be tough competition when it hits the market.
