I absolutely love this scene between Desmond and Leticia where they pledge themselves to each other. It is one of my favorite scenes in all of the series.

In a way, at least to me, this ties in with Angelique/Cassandra's appearance in 1970 with Nicholas Blair. These two met in Diabolos' Realm after 1840 and then schemed a way back to earth.

It took courage for Angelique to stand before Judge Vail and confess that she was a Witch and to confess that her powers came from Judah. Desmond's quick action and one shot destroyed both Gerard & Judah. That was really something to see that look of amazement and surprise in Barnabas when Angelique was willing to accept whatever punishment she had coming from the tribunal.

Both Leticia & Desmond are eloped in jail whilst Leticia visits him. Wow, Angelique is so smart and she POUNDED Dawson's head & killed him with a candle holder. (But she didn't mean to kill him). so she could escape. The execution came! Barnabas was already there witnessing. Wow! All of a sudden, Valerie/Angelique showed up at the execution ground with the head of Judah Zachary. Angelique was upfront to testify to the judge that the head of Judah Zachary possessed Gerard Stiles. Then suddenly, a quick-thinking Desmond pulls out a gun from one of the guards & fires once at Gerard. I applauded. Yay! Serves him right! Then the head of Judah Zachary turned into a white skull. Then the judge is convinced that Gerard was possessed by Judah Zachary (just like COUNT PETOFI). Then the dying Gerard muttered a word to Quentin & asked for his forgiveness, Quentin said, "Yes, I forgive you." This episode also made my cat's ears up as well as I held my cat to my face & cried. Thanks & kudos to Angelique!

Stop Quentin from marrying Samantha? He should have stopped himself from bringing the head of Judah Zachary. Sure blame the abused woman not yourself.

Wow. When Vicki was falsely found guilty in 1795, she was sentence to death by hanging. When Quentin I is found guilty of witchcraft, both he and Desmond are sentenced to death by beheading. Which, if you think about it, was more merciful than hanging.

I don't know about that. I have heard accounts where the beheadings have gone wrong....the ax may not have been polished enough, or the executioner hadn't been strong enough to make the chop in one swoop....in such cases there can be quite a bit of prolonged suffering for the condemned. I wouldn't want to be gasping for breath at the end of a rope either.

Poor Desmond, and Quentin! I feel sorry for everyone who is the victim of Gerard and Trask! I even feel sorry for Angelique! By the way, when she hit that guy with the candlestick I clapped! ~Janet in Canada

Such a sad and sweet scene between Desmond and Leticia. I like that both Quentin and Desmond were prepared to meet their fate with dignity, however unjust their executions would be. I'm assuming they're being let to the same courtyard where Vicki was taken to be hanged in 1795. It certainly looks similar. Angelique steps in at the last moment and saves their necks (literally). I can't help but feel she did this out of selfishness. Don't forget she refused to save Quentin before when Barnabas begged her to. It was only when he accused her of being selfish and uncaring of other people (which is true BTW) that she was willing to intervene. I will give her credit on one thing. Thank goodness she did away with Dawson. And Kudos to Desmond for shooting Gerard. The head of Judah Zachery turns into a skull, and was more than enough to exonerate him and Quentin.
