Robtop has finally added new content to geometry dash 2.2 in the form of a new gauntlet! prior to 2.2 releasing, we were made aware of about 20 new gauntlets that were gonna be added in 2.2, and I must admit, i am a huge fan of them being dripfed to us, instead of all 20 being added at once. It lets us play around with stuff, and it gives us periodic content to enjoy, instead of a ton of content at the very beginning of the update. These levels were all fun, and I think the gauntlet is great. not the biggest fan of sky tower, but i can see the appeal.

8:35 for the people who haven't played sky tower yet and are scared because of what aeon said, it's only true if you go for the coins, otherwise it's like a 8* after you learn it, BUT you'll have to learn it because the gameplay and especially the ending, it was my 2nd ever demon, so it isn't that hard :))

This gauntlet is good! I personally have some qualms with the tower part in still life and the 50% doors in castlemania, but its balanced out by glorious fortress :P

I feel the same way about castlemania. Such an experience, such a work of art. But it feels sort of wrong in this gauntlet, despite fitting the theme perfectly. Having such immense depth & being intended for immersion & exploration is at such odds with the grind progression of gauntlets

My problem with Castlemania is that a lot of the paths require a shit ton of random secrets. When the level came out, I couldn’t figure out how to get past 50% on the normal path, so I never beat it. I only beat it when the gauntlet came out with the deep path, which is probably a hard demon due to weird balancing, but is infinitely more fun than checking Nexus’s video five times trying to replicate every minor movement to open an unnecessary door or not fall into a different path, which the deep path doesn’t have. Interesting concept but could have been executed way better.

That's the *entire* point. Without all of that, it would just be any other level. It's meant to replicate a Metroidvania game with all its little quirks, including going back and exploring paths and finding random shit to be able to do shit. Aeon makes the point well - it does not belong in a gauntlet, as it's intended as that kind of experience. I also did the deep path (not willing to call it a hard demon, based on the metric of "there's no way I could've just cranked out a hard demon in a day, I suck"), since I also lacked the patience to look for keys, but the idea doesn't put me off. It just makes me see it as kind of at odds with the Gauntlet experience, especially as the 4th level.

I think that's rather harsh, but I agree that its placement, especially as the 4th level, is an odd choice. Still fun though, depends on how much you're obsessed with trying to quickly grind through it as opposed to just taking your time. Obviously there's a little more pressure to get it out of the way, but it didn't take away from my experience too much. Actually, I'd personally put off Castlemania for the longest time since it seemed too much of an investment, so I was glad the Gauntlet forced me to go ahead and beat it.

I hate the fact that Robtop basically forced me to play Castlemania. It was on my list of levels I never wanted to touch. You cant deny Castlemania has an object count problem if it breaks and requires restarting the game even for Aeon, who probably has a high end pc. If it can do that then lag isn't a "you problem" it's a problem with the level.
