Amazon no longer carries them because of shortages, and models coming out in 2 weeks have a metal vat and an increased pricepoint. First issued versions have vat reactions to various resins, and many customer experienced vats cracking in less than a week. Phrozen will replace those plastic vats, and offer a coupon on amazon for a discount on replacement metal vats arriving within 2 weeks.

Just got mine and tested it out! It worked great!(for an hour and a half) Now it shorts out and reboots whenever it tries to turn on the UV light :( Hopefully support gets back to me with an easy fix. Edit: And... one video sent later they're sending me a part to try and fix it. So much for an easy fix >.> It was easy to get things set up, at least. I can definitely appreciate that kind of support. Edit2: Repair took 5 minutes. Printer is working. Awesome customer service

@@tonyvarin2714 after the fix I've had some awesome prints. On some smaller bits I've noticed that some things don't necessarily correctly form(for example, an individual finger on to scale human figures), but those are few and far between. I could probably fix those by slowing things down too. At the moment I have it printing at 1.5 seconds per layer with phrozen's Aqua Green, so it's printing super fast. If you want a decent resin printer on the small end, I definitely recommend it.

Ya I would too. The difference is like 12 microns. Cells in the human body are normally around 5 to 10 microns... Also this printer uses a much better parallel light source. My photons usually have an offset of +120 microns because the UV light without a parallel uv matrix spreads out between the light and the resin vat. So I'm waiting to see a dimensional accuracy comparison. The phrozen mini Should be tighter tolerances.

@dennisash7221
@dennisash7221 4 жыл бұрын
Well the price point is a good question, looking at the BOM cost means they are making so little profit it is not sustainable ... what does that mean for the future? Are they going to just go bust, or bump the price up to where it should be, the real question is will your printer be supported in 6 or 12 months time?
@zeno6111753
@zeno6111753 5 жыл бұрын
At this price point are the resin printers becoming the new generation of ink jet printers? In other words, you buy one. You use it till something breaks, then you buy a new one because parts are almost as expensive as a new printer, and by the time stuff breaks a better version is available. Just a thought :)

Not quite . . . the individual parts of most 3D printers are pretty affordable. This $200 machine is pretty rare for that cost, but it only seems to have one moving part, maybe 2. So maintenance should be pretty easy and parts easily acquired.

The Phrozen website has the mini available at $239.52 (before tax and shipping costs) and is coming from China. The print volume on the Phrozen Mini is 4.7 x 2.6 x 5.2 inches. Adversely, the Elegoo Mars IS available from Amazon, and is 2K Resolution and a print volume of 4.72 x 2.68 x 6.1 inches - and is sold for $229 for Prime (free shipping) - FYI

Super impressed with the quality for the price, but as these machines get cheaper and into more hands, people should be aware of the potential hazards of resin printers if safety isn't considered. Please check the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) sheets of all the resins, vent out the fumes during printing, do NOT pour uncured resin down the drain (even the wash), and please wear more than gloves for protective gear. This stuff is pretty nasty for you and there isn't enough data on the long term effects.

Love the review and the channel, but I have to take issue with the "$200" printer thing as nobody is getting these to their door for $200.. it's $250 from Amazon or $200 plus freight (around $50..) direct from the manufacturer. Anycubic and Elegoo are rolling the $40-50 freight cost into what their entry level printers cost direct or from Amazon, so this is really on par price-wise with the Elegoo Mars and Anycubic Photon if you include the cost of shipping included in their prices. The Sonic Mini really acquits itself well when compared to these both even at the same price, so why muddy the water by sensationalizing a lower "price" when these 3 printers really cost the same to obtain?

Is the Resin really smelly and toxic? I was thinking of getting one. But I'm worried about the smell and or toxicness of the liquid.
@JenovaDragon
@JenovaDragon 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure about the toxicity for airborne matter, for touch, yes. Always wear nitrile gloves. As for the smell, it depends on the resin but what most do, myself included, is run a vent system out a window.

Hi, may I ask? I want to buy my first 3D printer, but I will go with FDM printer. I was considering Resin printer but I've got a question. How much does screen replacement costs on such a machine? I mean Mars has got 500-1k hours, will it die for example after 50-100 prints of that Death note figurine?

Would love to see a comparison of printed models from the full hd monochrome screen of the Phrozen Sonic Mini against the 2k screen of a printer like the Creality ld002\ Mars\ Photon etc and hear your thoughts on how they stack up to each other, Im really trying to decide between the two (the Phrozen and the Creality or the Mars Pro if they get restocked anytime soon haha) and want to know if the gap in screen resolution has any perceivable difference in the printed models

Looking nice! Loving the results! Now I've got a question; as a complete newbie in the area of 3D-printing, what is your take on ventilation when using these machines? Enclosed area? Exhausts? I live in an apartment, and my significant other would kill me if I remodeled the rooms with tubes.. :') But I really want to invest in a machine like this.

Hello, thank you for the great review. I can't make up my mind between the Creality LD-002R(around $240) and the Phrozen Sonic Mini which is more expensive (at least when delivering to Portugal it now runs around $300). What would make you chose between one or the other? I need it to print dental models and surgical guides. Thank you in advance

So you don't want one of these in your house, right? Do you rent some industrial factory space as a print space?
@axelhopfinger533
@axelhopfinger533 5 жыл бұрын
You only need a well ventilated room because of the resin fumes. There are low odor resins now which smell considerably less, if that is a priority. But the postprocessing includes washin the parts in IPA, which also is rather smelly. So just have a warm room (resin needs room temperature to work optimally) with a window where nobody lives or sleeps.

Hey man, I've been watching a few of your videos lately just out of curiosity to see what 3d printing is all about. Honestly, I got interested in experimenting with that technology and see what goodies I can create. However, I am not sure what budget/beginning friendly printer should I get. I like this one as well as the monoprice mp mini sla and the anycubic photon (mostly because Pete the wargamer uses it). Which one would you recommend to someone like me who wants to try this out but at the same time save money while doing it? Thank you mate!

How is it compared to the other known models for only $50 more?
@JenovaDragon
@JenovaDragon 4 жыл бұрын
It depends. There's pro's and con's to each. Others $50 more will get you a 2k screen but longer cure times, usually at least double. This one is quicker but you sacrifice a bit of resolution. It may be subjective because the 2k screens on the others have pixels spaced out to accommodate RGB but the mono screen is closer because you just have the one pixel instead of 3 per space.
