Bought exactly the same bike last week, even the same color combination. As a rookie(just drove a Vespa before) I am very happy with the choice, just drove 800 kilometers in a week, mainly through the swiss hills which are just very close. Such a great choice for a beginnen, easy to handle and still punchy.

Shawn, just want to say I have watched this video SO many times. Your reaction @ 1:07and 1:47 made me pursue getting one. That kind of reaction is precisely what makes for a great bike. So I bought one about 2 months ago, and I can totally attest to those reactions. The low suspension and narrow profile makes this a brilliant bike for the daily commute, which is what I mostly use it for. So thank you for getting me onto this. Its my seventh, and probably last bike. I don't think I will ever need another bike. Its just that good.

Mr. Shawn, I just fell compelled to write you this little comment. I believe you're the luckiest man on earth with the best job. I kinda wanna say that ; yes you should pay your employer for the privilege of riding all these nice bikes LOL. Since you guys have gotten the BMW account I have completely changed my mind about them. Although, I was convinced already the BMW 1000 RR was the over all best bike in the world; I am now beginning that all the BMW's are the best bikes, as well. Furthermore, I'm convinced now the 800 you rode a couple days will be my next bike; although the 1000 was really what turned my screws, Lol. Moreover , I think you are doing something for BMW that you're not getting paid for and that is all the other sales of them not only here in the U.S. but around the world, as well. Concluding, I really appreciate what you contribute to not only my knowledge of these great bikes all around but, for your entire following, as well. Shawn is truly blessed, a little bias as he works for the motorcycle shop that must sell these expensive bikes! BUT the thing about BMWs is *you need good "BMW" mechanic* for the advanced tech. BMW's of today. The highly advanced technology in the bikes need experienced mechanics (no amateurs) that are qualified by BMW schools. Bad BMW sellers try to skirt the requirements by using beginner or unqualified mechanics who are learning how to work on BMW while the qualified take vacations, are sick, or are simply off that day. Just a heads up. It is not just the bike you must like and know works well, it the whole picture. Who keeps your investment running right is very, very important too.

Tested this bike when I pre-ordered my R1200R, hate the clutch lever, feels my left grip needs more muscle. I know this has a cable clutch system, but compared to my first bike; G310R's clutch lever is much more comfortable on stop and go traffic. I really love the LC's ride height though. Planning to own a refresh or a much newer version of this.

although I watch you videos and enjoy them I would love to see your honest and real opinions on bikes. you can't love them all. ☺ every manufacturer has a dog in their line up. BTW it's not a 700. they are defined 800's

A lot of people miss that. The 700 is an 800 cc (798cc I think actually, same as the 800.)

Hey Shawn, Great channel. Thanks so much for taking the time to upload, and edit all your vids. Your video of the f700gs test ride was one of the research videos that inspired me to purchase one. Question: Vibration or buzzy feeling in the handlebars at 4 to 5 thousand rpm at 65 mph concerns me a little. The research suggests that its typical for the model. Any suggestions on how to dampen the vibration. Handlebar inserts? grips? etc?. Bringing it in for its first maintenance on the 26th of this month. Thanks

What tires were on this particular bike?? I've got a BMW F700gs 2013 and I love mine as well but im currently looking for a legit Street/Dirt Tire . Right now I'm about 90/10 % Street to Dirt. Barely do any off road riding but if I do I wanna be able to without slipping around like I am currently. I've heard of the ANAKEE IIIs but if you have any other suggestions I would be greatly appreciative

Joey, I hope this reaches you... I have a 2016 with the Michelin Anakee III radial tires and LOVE them ! I ride 90% street to 10% dirt, and they have tenacious grip on the street, and are nice for dirt roads, torn-up dirt State Forest roads, etc. I had Metzeler Tourance tires on my other GS, and they were very nice as well. How would this bike do for sustained highway speeds? I just did an Iron Butt on a Yamaha Star 950 Tourer, that weighs more, but only has about 45 HP. I run 85 all day. I've run cruisers forever because I am 5'3". This looks like a fun alternative, but I worry about highway speeds. What do you think? BTW: Do you ride with XXX Deadhead anymore?

Not sure where you are located but when I was in Maryland I was able to test ride whatever bike I wanted for a couple of hours. So, you may just want to try one and see.

@Hey Texas @RedBeard I am 5' 8" and have the package that includes both the low-suspension AND low seat. I flat-foot it easily. With my 120 lb. wife on the back, it is especially comfortable at stop lights. 🙂 Rob

Shawn is there much of a difference between the 800 & 700?

They are both powered by the same 798cc parallel twin engine. The F800 has 10 more HP via cam timing and EFI mapping. The F800 is larger than the F700 in every direction, including weight. I would say the F800 is built to be more serious off-road than the F700... You can go to www.bmwmotorcycles.com and compare the two bikes. Thanks Todd!

Shawn works for the motorcycle dealer/Sales Dept. at the shop that has him test ride the bikes. Test riding is a requirement before selling as they have to evaluate the road worthiness of all bikes sent to the store & put back together by the store. Shawn is bias as an employee of the motorcycle shop *but he may love his job & the BMWs.*
