An interesting feature of the 480 series brushed motors is the skewed armature stack. The skewed stack means that as each pole is energised and the armature rotates, the passage of the pole's magnetic field across the magnetic field of the can's fixed magnets is progressive rather than on/off. This makes the rotation smoother and less prone to cogging.

Now that was a fun video... and I even learned a few things... Thank you... P.S., I know doing these types of videos, is ALLOOOOOOT of work, doing all the research and graphs, and finding the right words to help your membership along with the narrative, but, at the end of the video, you viewers will be not only satisfied, but you will have stimulated them to think, and remember time of their past, and or both... Example... I remember my dad having a cow, when I pulled out my money at my local hobby shop to buy a motor for one of my cars, and he thought it would be like 5 bucks or something, and it totaled at $125 USD, and he was like, "Son, I can't allow you to carelessly spend your money on toys like this, blah...blah... blah... "...... Shut up dad, this is a life or death matter.... The world depends on me buying this motor, and if I don't buy this motor, the world will end.... LOL.... Okay, so maybe, I wasn't quite that dramatic, but, one thing is for sure, him seeing my smile a few hours later, playing with my car in the street in front of the house,, while I noticed his smiling face at the speed difference as I never had anything fast, due to just having used up junk, and worn out batteries, and motors from other people hand-me-downs, all of which I was eternally great full for and still am. My mom and dad would either sit on the porch or the long bench swing and would watch my play with my junk, that I was still excited to have. So, they could actually tell, that the new motor was 4 to 6 times faster... I remember my dad saying to my mother, that he doesn't understand how I could spend that much money on a toy, as if he never taught me what the value of what one dollar is, which was pretty much so, stated in a fashion of disappointment in me.... My mother, calmly and politely said to my father.... Well, he did work really hard to save that money, and purchased nothing else through out the entire year while mowing lawns, shoving snow, raking leaves, NEWS paper routes, etc...and... it is his money, and it does sound like he was saving his money to only buy that one thing, that motor for his RC car... Then she said the most amazing thing a son could hear, which changed how my father seen this whole RC car venture and me... She said, it sounds like he has a drive to win, and going fast will help him get to the finish line that much faster. You and I, (my mom & dad) do not know if this is something he will out grow, or turn into a huge part of his life, we do not know, so, how about being supportive and encourage him... which was stated as a "statement" and not a question to my father... Fast forwards a few years later, and I was racing professionally for about 8 to 10 years.. I used to race along side of some of the greats, like Jay Halsey, Tim Novak, Masami Hirosaka and so many others... See What this video did, it brought up allot of old memories, great ones too!!!!!.. Thank you.. Well done..

If you sectioned that into paragraphs, I`d actually read it all hehe. Not trying to be offensive, but that comment is challenging to read..
@drubradley88214 жыл бұрын
@@afrog2666 Really.. challenging to read? it took me like 1 minute and 45 seconds to type.. LOL... and no offense has been taken at all.. as what I wrote wasn't meant for you, I kindly say. See, if I type short, then the TXT comes off as aggressive sounding, but sure, it is to the direct point.. where as if I wrote, that My message was in reference to a message from his last video, and had encouraging notions. while making it my efforts to compliment his work and research that cost him time away from his family, so he could put this video out, for our viewing pleasure and education and to stimulate memories, which assists in bring the membership into a deeper thought, that there is more to the radio controlled industry then it just being a child's toy, when considering that the radio controlled industry is a multi million dollar industry, world wide and leave a result of happiness for so many, either being they have a job, doing something they enjoy, or simply playing with one in the street or parking lot. Or I could have said, "Good job, Keep doing what you are doing." like a billion of comments have stated in the KZbin world's comment sections. The man took the time to do research, and I took the time to let him know, that I enjoyed his resourceful video, which I even got to learn something in the process... I hope that helps. Again, All is stated in kind, and not meant to be understood as sounding mean or aggressive.. rather, just saying..

@@drubradley8821 Great story... Your parents, I'm sure, were proud. Cheers.
@drubradley88214 жыл бұрын
@@The_Absurdistt Would you like to know what is more interesting than that... My fathers childhood was nothing like what a mid 70's to the mid 80's was like. They had things pretty rough. They had school and work, that is it. fast forwards to about 10 to 12 years ago, my father retired, and put together a hobby machine shop to monkey around in, fixing stuff, to making specialty items for others at his own time. But what he has been doing with the majority of his time in his shop is making small gas scale engines that run.. from single piston engines to inline engines to V-8 engines, from dinky scale to about 1/4 scale sizes.. and is somehow found that he can reclaim a bit of his childhood he was never allowed to have, while still commanding a measure of respect from his buddy's or rather, admiration so to speak, and not be considered that he is playing with a childs toy.. Yes, they are toys in the sense that they serve no function other then looking neat, but, those dinky engines always draw a crowd when he put them on display at various hobby shows. I believe he is happy doing this, and is not ashamed to do these as a hobby, but it took him every bit of 50 plus years to simply allow himself to do what his heart requested of him to pursue with a passion.. I am proud of my father, and I as a child only slightly desired to make him proud, (I was kinda a d*ckhead of a kid, LOL) but even now, I do not live my life to please others. I have spent a life time helping others, but not out of the desire to please them, rather, just something that needed done.. but my father, I am glad he can spend his days retired monkeying around playing in the shop making scale engines. Trying to encourage him to build a full scale car, I think might be a stretch, but who knows.. he might?

You say that you like to collect motors? thank you for explaining the number on the can and how it stands for seconds. I have 5 Le Mans 360 ST motors and two are still in the plastic tube cases. I have a one Le Mans 360PT black label and I have a few of the newer line of Kyosho Marine motors that had the metal end bells and were 540 sized. But the most amazing and I have one still in the box with all the hardware is the REV marine with water cooled endbell 550 size. There are two more of the REV marines but they are in use in a Vintage Super Hawaii ABC model company speed boat. I also have a strange REV air cooled 300T. Can you tell me what these are worth?

Cool collection and as for prices, water cooled are rare and worth a few ££ for sure depending on condition.

did you have to peel off the green label to put on the blue label? What if you wanted to go back to the 480T green one... presumably the sticker is messed up because you peeled it off to put on the 480S label? Doesn't make much sense for the consumer, much better to buy the one you want and pay less.
