Hi, thanks for your videos on this motor! I have the same but 9.9B, it does not have the green ingnition button. Do you know if it can be upgraded to electronic ignitio? What parts could I be missing? Also, can I start the motor up with the garden hose connected to the flush port for cooling or does the water have to enter the motor by the lower inlet on the shaft at the bottom?

Love your video's! I just purchased a 2021 Suzukie 9.9. I saw that the manual says to take it to an authorized Suzuki maintenance to have the valve lash checked, oil filter replaced and timing belt replaced. Can you do a video on how those are done? I'm sure it's something we can do at home.
@laingej
@laingej 3 жыл бұрын
Yes sure when the time comes i will do all that. I gotta do oil change in two months .. valve lash dont worry yet.. timing belt is due every 4 years so you only have to worry about oil + filter change for now. I will make videos.

@@laingej Thanks for the reply. My owners manual says to have the valve lash checked after the first 20 hours or 1st month. Have you already put 20 hrs on the motor?
@laingej
@laingej 3 жыл бұрын
@@Baywolf_films i know they say that but i didnt check them at 20 hrs.. unless you hear ticking sounds!? I didnt want to open it and do all the work to find out the valve lash on point. I skipped that and are going to check them in 2 months or so on the 12 month mark. I know mine ok, is up to you. I got 47 hrs on mine gotta change the engine oil+ filter and lower unit all in july.

@Kurt hey what year model is it? fuel injected ? Did you check/change oil and filter., ? Make sure is peeing water good dont accelerate it in neutral too much ..it has a rev limiter maybe you reving to high red light come on.in gear you can rev higher. If it overheat red light come on too. If it sat for a while is good idea you replace fuel filter, engine oil and sparks.

You’re extremely good at rigging stuff up. Question: I always use a smart charger in my garage to charge a nice big marine battery that I keep in my smoker craft. Will the charger on this motor effectively charge my marine battery? Will it know when to shut off etc.?

Just use regular 10w40 if you can't find "marine oil" It will work as long as it meets the oil certifications , Api, GF6 etc, whatever manufacturer states. Same for lower unit oil, make sure it's correct weight and certification.

I just bought the same motor to use a portable motor for my 15' Kaboat. The weight concerned me a bit as a portable motor, though I didn't want to downgrade to the 6hp carb. Is the weight a dealbreaker as far as portability?

@michael its worth every pound! Its just 40 pounds heavier than the 6hp. EfI the way to go. I also considered getting the 6hp but im glad i didnt. Its a bit heavy but so much quieter. Two cylinders less vibration.. and way more powerfull as you can convert to 20hp
