Thats true but the case is too big for the dial imho. Calatrava will be 37mm to me forever.

@@MadMan-cp6tn agreed. I’m currently wearing my JLC Master control sector, which is 39mm. It’s elegant, and I can wear it with a suit, but it’s essentially a more casual every day watch due to the large case. I think once you go above 37mm, you lose a little of the classic restrained proportions. I’d love one day to own the 5096J. It was only made for 3 years in the late 90s, but at 34mm it’s just big enough for contemporary wear. I love the 3796 as an object and a design classic, but it’s just too small for me. The 5096 I think is the perfect mix of the 3796 and the 5196.

I completely agree. These oversized watches you refer to just turn my stomach, there is no class there. And the people who say anything less than a 39mm case size is for woman, to me are idiots. Patek doesn't listen to these people or subscribe to this redicilous over sizing of watches...this caletrava is perfect in its proportions. Is very elegant...I really hope one day I can get one

That 6119R is beyond gorgeous. The only thing... nope! Was going to say wish the movement was full bridge, but where you have such a nice view of the wheels.... and that dial. And that bezel. Ok, now I'm jealous. Please wear and enjoy it in good health.

yes 6119R looks completely different from the rest of Calatrava series, we fell in love over the first look of it

@@ruemlang89 Hi I'm not really quallified, but ill try. A bridge is a plate that is held by at least one screw on each end to hold wheels (gears) in place. So, one end of the wheel pivot (axle) will go into the base plate and one end into the bridge. There's also a "cock" which is a bridge with one end screwed down only. When I said "full bridge" that's a movent with as many wheels as possible having their own bridge or cock. This shows fine craft, although the 3/4 plate that Glashutte watches show fine craft, also. You can google all this and it will explain better and more accurate than I can, with pictures! Cheers!

It’s incredible! I own it. It’s my favorite watch. Fits more like a 40 or 41. Where the 5196 fits more like a 39 (sized at 37)

Patek has hit it out of the park with the dial, case, and movement with the 6119. It's really a stunner. I hope this signals what the future holds for the 324 caliber, which really needs a similar increase in power reserve and hacking seconds.

honestly it will melt your heart when you see the actual piece in person. I was just paying a viewing visit when being invited, but it struck my heart instantly that I didn't hesitate to own it. I have to confess as am not a Calatrava fan at all but this piece made it right for my collection.

I still prefer the 5196j as it remains the truest version of the iconic “96”, the 1st Calatrava to have a reference number. My guess is it will be discontinued causing a surge in prices. I also think the hobnail bezel is too busy for this piece, the movement & display back is nice though ☝🏻😉

My Rolex Submariner 41mm has neither gained nor lost a full second in 6 months of constant wear. Don't get me wrong, I love this 6119 and want one, but no watch mfr on the planet invests as much effort, time and money into research on how to make mech watches accurate and reliable as Rolex does. They smelt their own metals.
