How would you compare this beautiful new unit to the equally beautiful benq 7050i

The Benq is a very nice unit. But the trilaser are producing ink blacks. You really can't tell the difference until you see the same show side by side or after the other. The vava is using newer tech. Aldp 4.0, new motion emgin and the trilaser really makes a difference. BenQ does have a android TV stick which is better and is a very mature company. My BenQ was an early pre prod model too. One thing that I would say is different too is audio. The vava 1 is Louder that chroma and BenQ. BenQ and Chroma I have to run a higher volume levels. But this may be do to firmware

Can you realistically use during the day with normal lighting in a living room? I currently use an Epson 5040UB which has the same 2500 lumens. I use a regular non ALR screen and just use blackout curtains but if I open the curtains at all its not very watchable. Does UST projecting image so close and having ALR screen make it good for viewing without the blackout curtains ?

I have been UST for a few years now. I have can lighting in my living room, 7 windows and my kitchen is behind me. Lots of light during the day. Since the light is projected so close to the wall, you get a better image with the lumans. But you need a alr. Even a cheap one. It makes a big difference. I know that all this is a big investment. Go as big as you can. Buying another screen later doesn't make sense. Or even upgrading it. With my blinds open you see the quality I am getting. I crop in for the video, but we use ours every day and my wife watches TV from the kitchen we have a sunkin living room. We can sit in the kitchen and look down towards the projector. I will be working out this am. On my bike and take a pick and post it on Instagram for you to see. Check out my instagram, I belive I have day pics in that one too.

Yes. But it's not both. The projector will not work as a suroind system or center channel and allow you to add a sub. You do have optical out and arc. I have a Sonos connected to my main one and another brand on my living room projector

I am not fan of the OS of the projector and not using the inbuild Apps or sound because I would like to use my own Streaming devices (fire TV and Apple TV) with my Speakers setup (Atmos) . So I just need a UST projector with good pcture quality. Any Suggestions??

The laser on the vava is more advanced. Now hisense does have a tri chroma too. I am trying to get my hands on it. Live hisense, vava has the screen and the projector combo, hisense does have full android TV vav doesn't, but that's as far as I would go. It's not fair to compare them give the lase differences. So how big of a deal is it? Well you couldn't tell if you never saw them together. But I will say the black levels are killer on trilaser. Colors are more vibrant too. You can see how the are just super deep. Audio has hasn't advanced in either product.

A small question: Does the ALR screen need to be readjusted in height, when you replace the original VAVA with the VAVA chroma? I hope they made it so that you can just switch the VAVA unit and that's it 🙈.

Good question. I would say yes but it may change. I have noticed that the vava one and chroma laser image don't align equally. I did have a harder time on the new one. The pitch on the front legs had to be higher on the new vs old. I have told them this and it may be a firmware since I have a preproduction model

But if the light source is at a significantly different height from the ground it stands on, it seems harder to upgrade..
