I bought a 2021 GW Tour DCT last summer. I’m in my 70s and have owned motorcycles since I was 16. the last half-dozen were two-up touring bikes. including HD, BMW, and Victory models. The Goldwing DCT is by far the best motorcycle I’ve owned. Quiet, fast, comfortable, and the DCT is simply awesome. I’ll never own a shifter bike again.

Sounds fabulous! I haven't ridden a bike in 35 years but I'm considering taking my test here in the UK next year. I'm 62 though so no sports bikes for me. I do wonder though if as a newbie I'd be ok with a big bike? I have lots of fast open top car experience both on road and track so being exposed to the elements etc doesn't phase me. It's mainly other road users that I think would bother me, most are not particularly bike friendly

I bought a 2020 Goldwing Tour with the DCT. I wasn't sure if I'd like the auto feature, but once I rode it, I fell in love with it. No more cramping in the left hand, effortless driving in town. I also love the smooth ride, cruise control, gps, radio, heated seat and steering handle bars, plus easy maneuverability. It's my Cadillac. I couldn't be happier. My old bike is pretty basic. I still have my new purchased, clutched 2003 Yamaha Midnight RoadStar, that I like to ride for that old style feeling. The biggest negative I have riding the Yamaha, beside getting cramps in my left hand after a long ride, is getting occasionally burned on the pipes and feeling the heat off them in the Summer. I burned a brand new expensive pair of riding pants on the pipes. I didn't know that they were burning until I saw smoke coming up from my pant leg. Don't have to worry about that with the Goldwing. Honda hit a home run with the DCT for me!!

I have the 2018 Wing, and it's rated at 98 hp at the rear wheel. I bought it as the bagger version referred to as the F6B, which you have shown in the vid but did not list as a model option. For those who are mechanically adept and like to save money, you can buy the F6B for far less than the Goldwing Tour then buy the tour pack which includes the passenger back rest and trunk plus two more speakers that easily plug in to the existing sound system and add it yourself for about $1300 then add the center stand yourself for about $150. You'll save about $5500-$6,000 and have pretty much the same thing as the Goldwing Tour.

I bought a 2021 Road glide limited last summer and out side of balance difference do to engine design and placement mixed with seating position, performance, comfort, and technology on the Harley is in my opinion ( I know performance numbers are very close and in some cases better depending on factory engine equipped based on exact model) comparable and in some areas surpassed Honda. Plus the Harley's sicker price is with in the same range now with comparable rider safety technologies. It would be interesting to see the comparables not only side by side, but on the track too. r021

Thank you for your video really informative. I remember when the goldwing first came out. It was you know what do you make of that.? Lol you know later on years after it came out I like the old ones I like the way they sounded I like the way they wrote cuz my friend had one and I had a seven to seven I think I always said if I get one I strip it down and I put on a single seat you know a saddle seat I did that with a bike I made a later on. Due to a genetic eye disease I was born with I started to go blind in my early thirties and by 35 and 1980 when I was later than that I said yeah 35 and 1994 somewhere around there I had a no it would have been 1995 I really didn't keep up with motorcycles at all since very recently because it was literally too painful for me you know not being able to ride it was like a big tease so I kind of got out of it. Recently a friend of mine bought his first bike is in his late fifties and he bought a 99 Harley road King I think it is. Not the first recommended for people who have never written before yet alone someone at that age. At the stop signs or red lights so I thought decided to go online at the KZbin and find the videos that you know were informative you know to you know how to do this how to do that on the motorcycle. I thought he would be you know just delete it and nobody end of it but he didn't he watched it and thank me and I feel good I've been giving him tips all along for safety cuz I put I don't know 75,000 miles in my writing time so I had a lot of experience on the road it was all on the road none of it was there. Anyway the tech on these motorcycle blows me away because I I've never been following along with it so I'm jumping from the the newest bike ever owned the most modern bike was a 1982 Honda cb756 my last bike was the bike that was put together from parts it was custom and the only thing I didn't do is paint it and I had to paint the candy apple red with flames all over the thing I even had anodized the the disc brakes everything that was plastic that could be anodized I anodized to read to match the bike. Anyway that bike had a 1979 frame lowrider frame it was a Harley but a 1971 or 72 shovelhead 1200 and the oil basket was from God knows what yes so is piece together but and everything was Chrome so my last bike basically it was registered as the register when registered the year of the bike went by his motor so technically it was a 1971 to 72 but they didn't make lowriders back then LOL anyway jump from that kind of a bike a shovelhead right from 1977 from 1971 let's say to this Honda goldwing and the technology is like from another planet. I could just imagine the owning one of these bikes or even a Harley road cruiser and then all of a sudden I also find out that that they're making Indians again and then making they're making pretty trying if it's making bikes again all these like dead companies so bad and I know now that the Harleys at the Indians I'm sorry the Indians are being made in the United States what a wonderful thing so if I was wrongfulyeah so if I was going to ride again I'd look into the Indian and the Harley cuz I like this I never owned the Japanese car although when I was younger I want you to have any spice quite a few of them yeah so the tech today compared to the my last knowledgeable experience with a motorcycle is registered as a 71 with a 79 frame so yeah these bikes are like on a different planet technologically LOL very very cool sincerely yours Bob the blind bedroom guitarist

@kevinkelly61892 жыл бұрын
Like you I was only interested in the manual. I had the opportunity to test ride a DCT, after the initial shock and familiarization period I started to enjoy it, although i still thought an automatic would be a compromise. Then I found the mode switch and let me tell you there is no compromise. The DCT shifts faster than a human, still allows for great control even at slow speeds, and you get the bonus of an extra gear. You can choose to run it in complete manual mode if you would like controlling every shift. I rode home on my 12 gl1800 trying to talk myself out of the DCT the whole ride. 2 weeks later I had a brand new 21 goldwing tour dct parked in the garage. Every mile I ride it I like the dct more. I understand most think the DCT is a compromise or giving something up or accepting less control but none of that is true. It is superior in every way unless you just can't give up clutching and shifting at every light or traffic slowdown. I hope everyone enjoys riding and keep the dirty side down!

I still want a clutch. No salesman needs to waste a breath on telling me how much I would prefer the DCT. Every single time I walk in a dealership, they all try to tell me that. I’m not interested. However, everything else about the Goldwing sounds fantastic. I test rode one 3 years ago. The size of the tour pack kept me on my bike instead of trading. Looking for your experience. Thank you for the videos. I bought a 2022 DCT Goldwing Tour with 0 miles in April 2022. During the dealer prep they overfilled the engine oil by a half quart. Discovered this due to a Strong Oil smell during stop and goes. After the Dealership corrected the issue there is now an audible tapping sound on the right side of the engine. The dealership opened a ticket with USA Honda who indicated that the fuel injector emits an audible tapping sound. The tapping sound did not exist for the first 500 miles though. Any experience you can share is appreciated. I'll check back here to see any replies. Also do you experience extremely rough downshifts at low and slow speeds? I would take it for a second opinion from someone independent and see if they say they can hear the sound and what they think it is, don't give them any info before hand to influence them just ask a mechanic to listen to is and give his best guess what the sound is. I have heard injectors described as a ticking or clicking sound, not a tapping sound. Tapping sound makes me think of lifters/valve train. I am not a professional motorcycle mechanic but I know a few I will ask them there opinion. in the mean time do you feel tapping or ticking is the best description of the noise?

Why does the 2021 have 126 hp and the 2022 only 90 Edit I don't know much about motorcycles to know if this number matters
@NewBikeMikeChannel2 жыл бұрын
At the end of the video I mention my numbers are at the rear wheel not at the crank. 126 is at the crank but Honda doesn’t publish that number with specs of the bike in the US for 2022

This review is based on use in the USA, and after riding wings since 1990, this is NOT a Goldwing, its pan with goldwing badges and over priced.

sorry to say, but new Goldwing has not so much charm as my 2010 Goldwing, children waving to me and people looking to my shiny bike. the new one is a little bit boring. DCT I would have😊😊😊😊

First thing to know is it's effing heavy
@NewBikeMikeChannel2 жыл бұрын
Compared to an Indian, HD or BMW Touring bike? or to something lighter like a softail or Naked bike? All touring bikes are heavy till you start moving...
@mickeygaines0072 жыл бұрын
Even the heaviest model is not much more than my Road King. And none of these bikes feel that heavy once you get on the road. Especially the GW with that low-seated engine.

You so seriously need to go back to research school. The GL1800 has 123 HO and 123 lb ft of torque. Just saying .

I should have clarified my number are at the rear wheel, since Honda doesn't publish numbers I based my numbers on Dyno Results by Cycle world 2018 article. www.cycleworld.com/2018-honda-gold-wing-dyno/
@philoakley2212 жыл бұрын
In the Philippines the Honda Dealers website states 125.3 maximum hp.

Also, the dealer site states 171 newton meters torque which converts to 126.1 foot pounds.

@@NewBikeMikeChannel Mike, I understand rear wheel, not flywheel numbers. I was just trying to provide additional info for the other person in this thread. I thought I clicked on responding to him. My screw up. It’s a great bike. I’ve owned a 2013 and now the 2021 DCT. Best bike I’ve ever owned.

Only thing I need to know; Hideous looking. Good Lord, what have they been smoking.. Goldwing has traditionally been one of the most beautiful bikes built, year after year. I'll surely pass on DCT, as well, though I can see how or why some will like it.

Get tons of compliments on my 2022. Smooth, incredible balance, comfortable. So many reports from owners who took long trips with zero problems. Once you try the DCT you would appreciate it.
