NEW 2024 Acura ZDX Type-S | Fast, But Can It Hang With The MDX?

So Acura has responded to me and said the issue was in fact the ABS recall. It has since been fixed and this ZDX is back on the road! For those wondering :D

We have the same problem with our ZDX type S, The update was already done when we got the brake assist fault along with the clicking noise. We took it to the dealership and they reloaded the update again, it was good for about a week and now back. Acura in Richmond BC has said it is a software issue and that Acura is working on a new update. It comes and goes but more frequently, we get it on almost every start up 50% of the time. Just curious if the problem has ever been fixed on your car. Thanks! Great review BTW 👍🏼

I had 4 previous BMWs. All of which i love and kept one. A 2001 M5. That car satifies my urge to have a relatively quick and nimble car, especially in light of how heavy today's cars are. I traded in a BMW F07 535GT for a 2023 MDX A Spec and had immediate buyers remorse. I traded a lot of the things I love as a driver for reliability and hopefully lower maintenance costs. Yes, the MDX looked good and handled well, but my I6 turbo with tune and ZF 8 speed were an absolutely awesome combination. I was so annoyed with the lack of speed and the tranmission shifts i traded in my MDX this morning for a ZDX Type S. I need a reliable, smooth driving car with enough power for overtaking cars and merges. I hope this fits the bill. The only brands i was willing to purchase were Acura and Lexus. I did get a good amount of rebates and incentives, and that is always welcome. I really hope this is the car that fulfills my needs.

Acura is probably pushing reviews hard as hell because they're literally the worst selling new vehicle on the market. Any eyes on it are good eyes is what I assume their mentality is.

How about a GM that's made by Isuzu ? Is it a hate for domestic vehicles that drives your ideals ? Or is it something specifically against GM ? Is it the fact that they build a car that has Ferrari and Lamborghini quality and performance and sell it for Mustang prices ?

Not true. I was not lost. I had a 2021 Acura TLX A-Spec SH-AWD. Now I have a 2024 Acura ZDX Type S Performance Wheel & Tire. The ZDX is better than the MDX, TLX, RDX, and Integra. The handling is still good without the SH-AWD. It's not missing anything. You test drive it, I own it. Actually the ZDX Type S is less, because you get $7500 Federal EV Tax Credit. Way more tech and horsepower in the ZDX and it costs less. ZDX is the fastest Acura with the most horsepower and torque. Don't listen to him, if you like Acura, get the ZDX over the MDX. The ZDX Type S is the only model with a HUD and Hands Free Cruise. Listen to owners, not reviewers. TLX Type S and MDX Type S will see my taillights for only a few seconds, after that they will say he's gone. Recall with the TLX or MDX you are driving it to the dealership. The ZDX sends air updates to fix the recall. The ZDX is way better. Listen to the Tall Guy review, not this guy. The ZDX interest rate is 0.9%. Acura does not offer low interest rates on the MDX Type S and TLX Type S. I am an Acura owner; I had the TLX and now the ZDX. The Bluetooth takes longer to set up in the TLX and MDX. The sound system is better in the ZDX. The only way I will go back to a TLX is if it's all electric and has 500 horsepower or more, and it will need an air suspension. My TLX I had to make wider turns. As far as looks, performance, smooth ride, handling, and tech ZDX all day every day. This reviewer gave his opinion, not facts. The screens on the ZDX are so much better. The TLX and MDX screen freeze up and can be slow to connect to Bluetooth. I know because I am an Acura owner..The ZDX Type S is the best model Acura has made so far.

I, too, have been an owner of the ZDX Type-S, since 1 January 2025 (and ❤️ it)! I've owned the 2003 Acura TL Type-S, 2012 Acura TL, and currently own a 2018 Acura MDX (and the ZDX rides smoother, is faster, and has the best technology/sound system) hands down!

Talking about the cost of driving a gas vehicle , is electricity free ? I know it should be , but I know the answer to that is a big fat no it isn't free .

You make it sound like electric is free by saying you save by not having to pay for fuel in the £4k cheaper car... the electric prices have risen crazily since electric cars are now more popular

Very true. It's not free to charge an EV, but locally here it's about 1/3 the cost to fully charge an EV vs. filling up an equivalently sized gas vehicle.

The average price for gas here in Vancouver was the same in September 2021 as it is now, with a gentle dip around this time every fall when school goes back on. Gas is generally higher in the summer months. We shall see what happens with charging rates! It's an exciting time

You can't do a review on an EV vehicle and not go over its charging capabilities, especially withlevel 3 charging times. I would have given this a thumbs up but sadly since you didn't cover charging it's a thumbs down. Furthermore why is charging time so horrible on this car? I was ready to go lease one but after reading and watching reviews this is the single point that's stopped me.
