Basically Mercedes-Benz is discontinuing the C Class coupe as well as the E Class coupe, so with this model they merged both the models to make one car from now moving forward.

I currently have a 2019 E53 coupe. Just waiting for them to launch the CLE 53 , E53 sedan/wagon and the E63 sedan. Will see after that which one I trade this baby in for, but I would prefer a coupe

You can get the M440i for the entry level CLE which makes no sense to me.

The CLE 300 falls in between the 4 series and if the 6 series was still around it would also be it's competitor. It obviously won't make sense if you only view it as a 4 series competitor.

@@treasurem2491 Yes. That was the point of my above comment. Its a replacement for the C Class Coupe and the E Class Coupe, which is obviously above the 4 series.

This car has no "E" in it. It has the same cheap plasticky interior as the C Class. There are fixed B pillars whereas the previous E was pillarless. I sat in this too at the dealership and the interior quality is poor poor. This whole car reeks of cost cutting. Looks alone will sell it to people who did not drive older Mercs so it will be fine. But this won't appeal to old Merc owners who are used to quality. Chery just needs to bring the Arrizo 8 sedan here. Mercs quality isn't any better and in any case the Merc only has 2 litre 4 cylinders anyway like a Chery.

In general, never compare old cars with new ones. Many talk of poor Merc quality but surprisingly they last longer than the so called better quality in other cars. Pressing on materials to hear how they sound like is just lame. This car has a fairly good quality for its segment

@@jeffreysekano6075 They actually don't. Mercedes sits in the bottom of most reliability surveys these days. And actually, look at newer mercs that are only 3 years old. Peeling buttons, cracked centre armrests, scratched up thin glossy centre console plastics, rattles galore. None of that is good for longevity and they most certainly won't age or last as well as the older Mercs. My dad has a 2004 C Class with 380,000 kms. The interior still looks near to new. No peeling buttons, no cracking armrests and barely a rattle. My sister recently took an Uber black and it was a new C Class. She messaged me while she was in it. She's not a car person and yet the first thing she said to me was that my dad's 2004 C Class feels more luxurious because the quality feels much better and more solid than the new one. That says it all.

@@jeffreysekano6075 How is that lame? It indicates how solidly the car was built. And these new Mercs are anything but. Imagine listening to rattles all day long after only 10k kms on the odo.
