I like the styling of Traverse over Grand Highlander and those 22" wheels are sweet and it looks more aggressive. The super cruise feature is also quite intriguing not sure if Toyota has a similar feature. There was a reference to 36 MPG combined for Toyota Hybrid Max but that is more like 26; the 36 MPG is for the plain hybrid where the horsepower drops to 220 so a big difference vs Traverse. Traverse is not yet available and hence we can't drive it or even see it in person. If you are in the market and need a 3 Row SUV this year its going to be Toyota Highlander. If you can wait a bit more then we can look at Traverse and also Hyundai Santa Fe the new one is looking really good. Bottom line these are the 3 on my shortlist and can't wait to test drive them all.

We've just ordered a new highlander platinum hybrid to replace our aging, but very reliable Chevy Traverse. The wait is 2 years for the Highlander. We're having second thoughts on the Highlander and are now leaning towards buying the all new re-designed 2024 Traverse Z71. The Traverse has more features, lower cost and in our opinion a better looking design. Anyone blowing 60 -70 grand on a vehicle is probably not too concerned with fuel costs.

It would be great if these same vehicles were offered with two row seating for 5 or 6 and hidden storage where third row seats would be. This goes for any mid to full size SUVs of any maker. Not everyone needs third row seating in an SUV where storage is extremely important. A van is more practical if that many seats are needed.

Traverse definitely is the better choice on features and much better material on the interior. The exterior just looks better overall. It doesn't look nearly as funky and weird as every other car brand suv out there. Chevy just nailed it when it comes to styling and implementing features that made sense in the right placement of the layout. It just look good overall. Where's for these other brand suv out there. It just seems to me like they made way too much compromise and just cut corners and throw random stuff on there and expect people to buy it when the vehicle just doesn't even look or make any sense with any or some of the features that was on there. It just downright look odd and funky if you pay attention to the details. You just gotta know what you really want and don't make compromise. Because then you'll just end up regretting it later down as you get to know your cars more and more and you're finding features that just frustrate you. Your money, you make the final say before shelling out an arm and a leg for a vehicle. If it look funky and weird and doesn't have all the features you want. It's better to just walk away as it is NOT worth the investment.

Tried Traverse 3rd row at Detroit autoshow; tight legroom and small windows blocked by the weird body line. wasnt impressed! The rest of the car gorgeous. Toyota's turbo+hybrid combo is a recipe for disaster

That's the main reason why I don't think i'm going to upgrade to the Traverse. I love the design and the interior but the leg room in the third row and that window were the biggest cons for me. I want my passengers to be comfortable and get provided with a good view. I wasn't made aware of the Turbo with the hybrid in the grand Highlander. So this is something i'm definitely going to be researching a little more before making a final decision. I currently drive a honda crv as a family of 4, & were looking to upgrade In january.

Both engines are new and untested, although GM already has a slightly larger 2.7L turbo in some of its trucks. Still, a turbocharged hybrid engine failure sounds like a nightmare to me. I'm likely to be replacing a 2016 next year and was considering a Palisade Caligraphy...until I watched a Traverse video.

Traverse RS with “super cruise” hands free driving, at highway speeds it seems even hybrid versions of the Grand Highlander are only 28mpg, for predominate highway driving seems like the Traverse has the edge, more intercity driving Grand Highlander Hybrid Max is a better option, still no Prime version😮 maybe next year.

Having ridden in both one after the other over the same road I felt that there wasn’t any comparison. The Toyota rode very bouncy and the engine noise as with a few of Toyota’s recent hybrid offerings was obnoxiously noisy. The Traverse was quiet and isolated over bumps, remaining steady and the engine was on the quiet side of the class. It also steered very directly though nothing was exciting about the steering rather it was always competent and secure. I’d have to pick the Chevy this time. It’s the most relaxing large crossover that I’ve driven in a long time especially in its price range.
