One minor complaint is that they charge $250 for shipping plus another $75 for shipping insurance. At $250 for shipping, seems like this should already include insurance. They do offer pickups in Illinois though so if you live in the area, you can save yourself $325.

Most other e-bikes offer free shipping, everyone keeps saying this e-bike is $2000, but it’s not, wired website should have list it as $2324 price tag, or $1999 + $325 shipping instead of unknown shipping making people think it’s under $2000 and free shipping.

Shipping insurance? Cannot stand when a company pulls that!! Only 1 other i know of that pulls that. All! Other companies . No matter the item, covers the item right up to your doorstep. The way it should be. Hopefully they at least package it very well.

My current e bike was 1,300$ free shipping , 750w motor will do 28 throttle only and 31 mph with assistance . Also uses all name brands like Shimano , Tektra, Schwalbe, Samsung, etc.

This is one of the rare bikes I would not bother to upgrade because it does everything I want. Some may want a torque sensor, but that would add to the cost, and some people prefer a cadence sensor. I can't believe they are offering it at that price. The rack is a little large, and the only benefit I can think of is a huge custom basket. You can't use it for a passenger because it will bend below where the main supports join, but it's more than strong enough for normal use.

I don't know why you always ignore shipping cost when you redo bikes some have no shipping some have up to $300 shipping. Shipping cost is important in your reviews. Last I looked it was $2,000 plus $200 shipping

Ridiculous. Still 2 grand! This is top of the food chain, kids. The BEST eBike out there, in my opinion. This would be the only ebike I would consider replacing my Aventon Aventure 2 with. Truthfully, in traffic I would never go 40 mph .... but on the empty country roads I ride on, it would be nice to experience it from time to time. I'm really happy the fenders move to all-metal, not so happy they are shorter. Again, my country roads are surfaced with chip-and-seal, so there is a lot of small pebble debris that can get kicked up on the tires. All of that, from both front and rear tires, can get shot into the rear suspension and the controller area. Wired, please make fenders a bit longer. The length of rack I like. I've seen some cases on other bikes where storage on top of rear rack gets too close to the seat. On this rack, that storage can be moved rearward. If you have something like a milk crate back there, you can't swing a leg over the top of that anyway, so rack length isn't a problem.

great vid so i have a step thru for the wife she's 5,4 120 lb and she tosses this big bike around like nothing and i have the freedom and we love them Steve and Dan are great have called me at mid nit to walk me thru adjusting my detailer customer service is great i have sold a few of these to my friends and the new model is going to be great looks like ill have three also i live near Pittsburgh go Steelers and we have big hills everywhere and these bikes crush them ill never buy a 48 volt bike again i don't care if it has three batteries on it would ok in flat Florida or Ohio but if your terrain is hilly wired has you covered with out ripping you off 2k unreal thanks citizen and wired fore a great product

Aww man.....we just got our 2023 models a month ago. Even the 2023 model suspension is pretty dang good for the trail and single track that I ride. I would've loved the 2024 suspension but I'm still very satisfied with what I have. The 2023 forks seem to have a bit of "fore and aft" play in them, but they still worked well for me...and fyi, I'm at 230lbs. Thank you for another awesome review!

My Beautiful Blue 2024 Wired Freedom bike finely arrived 2 weeks ago. Sadly because of a supply issue with Kenda, the November bikes were delivered with the Chao Yang tires. The term LARGE AND IN CHARGE suits this bike very well ! This thing is a hoot to ride ! Every where i go the Freedom turns heads, and people always ask me about it ! You don't completely realize how big this bike is until you see it in person. I have indeed peddled the Freedom to Well Over 40 MPH ! (with a very slight tail wind ) I'm Very pleased with my purchasing decision. WELL WORHT THE WAIT !

That ginormous chainring is the first thing i noticed. Im usually ghost pedaling in 4 and 5 PAS on the couple ebikes ive tried. Really comfy looking cruiser with those upright bars. 👍🚲

Have one on order due in November. Even more excited, and very pleased with almost all the upgrades, especially the suspension. One thing that stinks for me is the batteries are not compatible between the old and new. Since my son has a Cruiser, I was expecting to be able to take a spare battery on long rides when it was not going. Hopefully they will offer the connectors for sale to be able to retrofit the old one with new connectors, or at least offer an occasional sale on the batteries for $500 instead of the eye-popping $800. The higher gearing on the front sprocket is especially amazing since I thought it was already high, being able to easily go over 35 on PAS. With my two Ride1Up ebikes, you have to pedal comically fast to approach 28mph. For me, the longer the rear rack the better. I have a large folding basket that I occasionally add that fits perfect on the 22" rack the Cruiser has. When the basket is not mounted, I can swing my short legs over it since it is the height and not the length I am swinging over. I do have a maximum setback seatpost to be able to have the seat lower while still getting decent extension to pedal. The first thing I will do with the new Freedom is remove the fenders, like we did with the Cruiser. Don't need the rear when you have a rack (and put a bag or just a thin plastic sheet on it), and the front fenders on the new model look like they won't do anything anyway.

Great video. Got mine coming in November. I totally agree about the handlebar room issue. I will add one of those extra additional horizontal bars for my many accessories. But I disagree about the rack. The more room the better for me (plus I got the Cruiser, so throwing my leg up and around is not an issue). A second battery AND a rear bag might fit, which would be great, as entertaining the idea of a second battery to get some awesome range.

​@@louisbensinger4239It's stored for winter now (Maine :( ), but I believe I was around 600 miles and the one issue I've had, which I think someone already mentioned somewhere was the chain bouncing off when the bike is on rough terrain or when you hit a few large bumps. I plan on addressing that before I bring it out of storage this Spring, but other than that, NOT a single issue. The only things I noticed was having to tighten up the handle bars and front light (more than when I originally assembled it) as it needed far more torquing down than I realized, but I think that will depend on how rough you are on the roads and trails. I've ridden it in complete down pours (not by choice) and no issue. I've never had to change or adjust tire pressure yet. Battery is holding up just as well from day 1 and I monitor travel and PA levels very careful. All of my rides are hard, fast, rides and are anywhere from 15-30 miles at time.

thanks alot. just got mine 3 weeks ago and now i want to trade it in. lol. the 23 model does have a longer rear triangle with more clearance but not that much. holy heck. I have a 19 inch bag that fits the 20 inch rack perfectly with room for the trailer hitch that mounts on the back. the late 23 model i believe has the new windings as well. looks like i will be upgrading the front fork next year, hopefully they will have the new shock and fork on the website. I bought a cafe lock from rad power that fits 4 inch tires and it will mount to that new frame easier. I had to mount mine to the front fork. It works but is not ideal. congrats to the lucky people that get this new design.

I’d also add that I’m not sure the Tire change is a great idea, I have Kenda crusades on another bike and the rear tire is quite worn starting about 350 miles. I run rear cargo/weight on my bikes and those tires seem to wear quickly. The Chao Yangs on my Cruiser show little to no wear after nearly 300 miles…

Got one on order for Nov delivery and was super happy to see this video. Super happy with all the changes they have made with the possible exception of the rear rack.....I will wait to see on that one. As to taking advantage of the new suspension..... The previous rear suspension was not the best, and this revision looks fantastic. For those looking to take advantage of it, keep in mind the standard formula for primarily street ridden bikes is to have your suspension preload set to about 30% of the travel when you are seated in your normal riding position......so if you lift the rear of the bike off the ground and place a zip tie on the shock shaft against the shock body and then slowly sit on the seat holding on to a wall/tree etc. the zip tie will slide on the shock shaft and allow you to measure the "sag" which if you have 3 inchs of total suspension travel the sag should be about 1 inch. Then adjust the compression and rebound (extension) to achieve the stiffness desired to prevent suspension bottoming and best allow the tire to track with the road surface under various surface irregularities. Many thanks to Wired for the inclusion of the upgrades on all the bikes that will be shipped......looking forward to delivery so that I can post a review with detailed setup instructions for those new to this subject.

The shock has a setting ring so you don’t need a zip tie! The new suspension design is amazing and they put in a really good adjustable air shock and the RST guide fork is hydraulic with a progressive lockout. Nothing to upgrade save 203 rotors on the front?

I think the new rack is good with longer length. Rear suspension design looks like a major improvement. The RST Guide fork is built strong and should hold up well at high speeds. I prefer metal fenders, but the new front fender looks too short to be of much use keeping your legs dry. The handlebars being too narrow is kind of silly since they are available in all sizes. When they saw where they were putting the shifter, they should have used longer handlebars. Overall, the bike looks much improved, though.

Yeah, I'd prefer the front fender to be longer to help prevent the battery from being splashed if you go through a puddle. I will admit the shorter fender without the wire support looks much better, though. And I think metal fenders are the way to go as long as they are quality. A little concerning that the rear one doesn't seem easily replaceable, though. It looks like it is welded to the rack.

The only thing I don't like about this bike, is the cruiser style seating design with a lower seat and those silly raised handle bars that leave you with less control of your front tire for navigating obstacles. Some people might like that design but I have been riding bikes for a long time and I don't think I will like it. I really like a lot of things about this bike and hill climbing is high on my list of necessities, but I would want to try before I buy. So many bikes are online sales these days, and a bike is sorta like a pair of shoes, you really have to try them on to see if they fit you and your style of riding.

Yeah I agree with the handlebar thing with adding a few more mm cause it looks too cramped together with that last thing almost not fitting on the straight part of the bar. Also, not sure if I like the bike being 10lbs heavier. Was hoping that they added turn signals to the taillight and updated the headlight to a more rectangle design. Does the bell come with the bike or did you add that? Overall, looking forward to getting this newer model.

This bike is awesome! It's getting better and better. I agree that the rack should or could be shorter. I would prefer the longer fenders because of splashes, especially at those speeds. I'm not ready for a new bike yet, but would definitely get this one. Do we know how dependable this brand of motor is since it's not a Bafang? Not that Bafang is that great since I had to get a new motor at 5000 miles.

be fang motor isn't that great i have read were people have had them not run straight out of the box this is a better built motor if you do your research also this motor was built just for wired they wanted it built to there specs now the first verson had some problems with the magnets a few not all of them not having enough glue but that has been fixed i personally would pass on the be fang im sure there's some that have gotten some millage out of them but they don't come close to this power

Sold my fully updated Rad Rover with a true 750 motor, controller, two 52v batteries, with a Datex2 ,I’m now looking at this, it’s totally amazing, It’s what I always wanted in an Ebike and no major upgrades required.. this leaves anything the Rad company has in the dust, Rad and other companies are going to have to realize that what people want is more power, and yes speed, let us decide to follow the law or to break it as It’s our choice, we can be foolish or wise we are adults, and most of us like myself are senior citizens anyway, if we want to mess with the settings, let it be on our head and not the company. 👍😎 (I want this awesome machine)🤓

Hotdog! I can’t wait for my Freedom! This will be my first e-bike and admittedly also my bar hopper. I’m no “cyclist” but these upgrades are RAD, the fenders are worthy of going on the bike now and I’m stoked about the suspension and new gearing. Torque sensors are for baby wieners! It looks like they could move the back rack perhaps a couple inches closer to the seat if it's to long but personnaly I like the back rack just the way it is. Also, I totaly agree with your assesment of the handlebars, the handlebars need to be a couple of inches wider just as you said; there is not enough room there. The only minor issue for me would be a softer seat like perhaps a cloud 9 style seat, but hey beggers can't be choosers. A BIG thank you to Wired for maintaining the price point, it looks like I got in at just the right time for my upgrade. Would this be called the "Wired - 2" or perhaps the Wired Freedom 2, or perhaps just the freedom 2 bike. Hmm, I wonder what the new upgrade name will be. Thank you sir for doing this, this means alot to me!

$2000 is not begging. Powerful ebike motors and batteries are less expensive than ever. They should be adding better accessories. Better seat, a lighting system that includes a HORN and turn signals etc. Only a couple dollars of profit difference per bike. And more people want to be safe and comfortable than go a couple mph faster. They are limiting their customer base with greed.

Good review, and the bike seems cool, but as others have pointed out shipping cost isn’t included. Also they have a short return period for an unused bike, and an even shorter period if the bike is used at all. Return shipping is not included in unused returns or used returns (which have a huge restocking fee), and even warranty claims do not include shipping.

Very nice looking bike by the way. Does it come with any security? I don't know if bike theft is big in my area but wouldn't want to take a chance either.

Hey Brian. First a disclaimer, I really like your channel and am a subscriber. That said, why do you take the bikes you are reviewing and post the speed they can do when you are going downhill? That's not the bikes speed, that's gravity! That dosen't mean anything. Depending on how steep the hill is you probably could hit 60+! Okay, now the new Freedom. I REALLY like all the improvements. The rack might be a little long but I can live with that. I'd rather have it a little too long rather than too short. Like many of the other comments, I wish it had a torque sensor. I've been considering this bike or the Havoc X2 AWD. Both have their pluses and minuses but the BIG plus for me on the Havoc is duel motor. That's huge for me. Top speed (important to me) was close ON LEVEL GROUND. Havoc was 34 and the freedom was 37. Being that close I honestly don't think I could tell the difference when riding the bikes. One thing that scarted me about the new Freedom is you not being able to put your feet flat the ground when sitting on the bike. In your video "Wired Freedom eBike - Final Product" you had both feet flat on the ground when sitting on the bike (like you, I'm 6 ft tall). I don't like the idea of coming to a full stop when I'm out riding and having to use my toes to balance the bike when stopped. Bottom line, I'm still up in the air about which bike to buy. Havoc is more expensive but the shipping is free and right now they are not charging sales tax which brings the final price of both bikes closer. Film at 11.

Your debating between a 20x4 AWD and a 26x4 single high output. Quite different bikes. There has to be a use case scenario that one really fits the bill better for you??.. Far as stopping and being in tip toes, just slide forward a tad and stand over the top bar at 6ft tall.

I know they are very different bikes. That's what's so crazy. I have no case scenario as you suggest. I have never owned an ebike (just a tricked out Harley years ago). So I am just looking at a ton of KZbin videos (tursting Brian's videos the most) and picking the ones I like the most and make a decision from there. If you have any suggustiion on how to make that first ebike drcision I'd love to hear them. As you can tell from my choices, top speed is important. I don't wamt to putt along at 20 mph. I'd rather not slid forward to put my feet flat on the gropund but I may have to.

@@leeolson9103 I’m no expert, I have multiple e-bikes and have experienced a few different configurations. For me I really like the Wired bikes, I like how it fits me and have been able to dial in how it performs/rides nearly exactly to my liking. I don’t have any personal experience with Fabulous e-bikes but was cross shopping the Road Warrior AWD with the Wired a couple months back. I really like the features of the Fabulous bikes but realized how little Id actually use the AWD and that the extra weight/maintenance of all those components would rarely benefit me in the riding I do (mostly forest covered bike paths, some dirt paths and occasional street riding). I have a couple 20x4 bikes and they are more convenient to maneuver around but once I’m up on the bikes riding I much prefer the 26x4 bikes. I also prefer 52v and up systems as it seems like even when locked into class 3 speeds (28mph) I don’t notice as much performance decrease when the battery gets lower vs the 48v systems. Really like the 60v system on the Wired bike. I rode 48 miles yesterday and came home with 55v on the battery that jumped up to 57v after sitting a minute. I used a mix of top speed throttle runs when I felt spicey and mostly pas 2/3 averaging about 18mph overall. Great range for a big powerful bike.

Looks like the wired freedoms are in fact delayed for November deliveries, I received e-mail notification of this. Those who ordered the wired cruisers will start getting their bikes fin the first shipments starting soon then gradually the freedoms will come in on different shipments

I think this bike is actually best with it's "power based" cadence sensor and no "cut off limit" for speed on each cadence setting, especially with the programmability of the display on this bike. It's excellent 👌 A torque sensor on this bike would be a downgrade in my opinion. Great video CitizenCycle, looking forward to throwing a leg over the new and improved model. In the mean time, durability test on the old model coming soon 😜

I asked Steven about UL certification & he said they are trying to obtain UL 2849 certification by the end of November. Do you know if the bikes shipped at the end of November will have the UL? My no car parking apartment building may require the UL. I want to pull the trigger now and get the $50 discount. Also want to buy a 2nd battery. I'll shoot an email to Steven & post his response about this. Man, what a bike!!!!!

@@jfly2249 Yeah. I just sent Steven an email. At least I got until Sept 30th to get the $50 off but the UL certification is a must before I buy. However, Steven assured me they are getting the certification. That might make the price go up. UL certifying is expensive, for any company.

I’d bet they don’t raise the price. They are married to the $2000 price point. UL certification is the right thing to do even though it’s just starting to be demanded by the market. What a joke that the big companies have not yet received UL certifications. Rad announce recently that they will be all UL listed by 2024 but what about everyone else? Really sad when a little upstart company can get UL certification before the companies with the massive ad spend! Spend less on pay per click ads and put a little money into your bikes for the sake of your customers.
