I find putting it into nurburgring mode, you get more and louder pops and bangs. Especially when letting off around 4 - 4.5 rpm. Had mine for almost a year and wasn't aware of the automatic lane change feature! Cool!

So the car is giving you a short 'brake-test' to wake you up if you ignore the 'put your hands back on the steering wheel' warning. But what if a tailgater is 5 meters behind you while driving - lets say 100km/h - and this system kicks in? Which EU authority approved this feature/made this car road-legal in the EU?

Well, the brake-test is really short. The car is hardly braking, it’s just a shock that goed through the car to wake you up. However eventually if you don’t respond the car will slowly lose speed. It is in all cases the responsibility of the car behind to leave enough space to the car in front. This feature is only meant for emergency situations.

But in real life - the Netherlands (where I live) - there are too many drivers that seemly have the same intelligence as a dishwasher-processing-chip. They don't keep distance at all. That's why I'd rather don't want my car to brake on its own - even if it's 'really short'.

You need to have the performance pack. If you do not have it you also will not have the big rear spoiler.

Seems like performance pack is unavailable since some time. I ordered Golf 8R a month ago and have realized that I won't have the drift mode as well :( a bit bummed and haven't really found in the internet whether u can enable it or not somehow

The Performance pack is standard with the new 2024 Golf 8R with 333hp instead of the normal 320hp. Ask your local VW dealer.

Yes apparently it is. If you look closely at the R logo projector light on the passenger side of the car (you even stopped there for a while around 1:42) the letter has a big white spot of light in the middle. The same thing happen with Cupra Formentor VZ (310 hp) and it’s a known issue. They repair the light projectors under warranty.

@@deniz-auto well that’s what I pointed out above, the light projector seems to be broken. I drive a Formentor VZ5 that has the logo light as well but a different one than the VZ (VZ5 symbol instead of Cupra logo), and have had no issues so far (around 15k km right now). If your car is still under warranty go to your dealer. They should fix this.

Yeah i filmed it with a gopro inside the car. It went into winds noise reduction mode and you couldn’t hear anything anymore. You should watch my newest video, i put a gopro on the outside and it has a pure crazy exhaust sound. With loads of pops 👍🏻

Well sport mode is not useful at all. It should just let you decide for yourself what you want as the default mode. I’m pretty sure 90 percent of all golf R owners never use sport mode. But either R mode or comfort.

I would say this Golf R has an outstanding virtue and two deadful defects. The virtue being its gusty and powerful engine. The defects comprise a lack of a manual gearbox option and the horrendous abundance of digital screens that will age horribly as fads and tech move on to something completely different in not that many years.

It will be illegal to sell petrol and diesel cars but people will be allowed to drive those cars, that has already been made clear in numerous EU parliament debates. No major political party is against the use of pre existing petrol and diesel cars. Also, the way things are going with electric cars, that date will ill have to be scraped as the vast majority of people aren't buying electric cars.

Petrol and diesel remain popular. Citroen has included a New diesel engines in their Berlingo range, in 2024!!!! Finally, do some research and you find that geologists and economists agree that the amounts of lithium there is in the entire world is nowhere near enough for the entire world population to have electric cars!
