As an owner of a 2022 1000sx (with a full decat exhaust system) I can understand why people are disappointed with the bhp figure but honestly these bikes don't need any extra bhp. I ride mine hard but never need to redline it to make very rapid progress, I love blasting up through the box with the quickshifter changing gears around 7-8000rpm and before you know it your doing 3 figures!! I think the SE model is pretty decent but would I change mine for it.........Probably not. Bikes like the BMW S1000xr are brilliant but having 170bhp that you can hardly ever make use of as it's far up the rev range doesn't make a great road bike, it makes a very fast bike that has pub bragging rights

Yes tires, brakes, suspension,and engine capacity show a clear improvement. The 1100 Ninja SX SE is exactly what I've been looking for. No saddle bags I can shoot around town,put the bags on and pack conservative. Wouldnt be surprised if the stock bike on the dyno made the same power as the last gen. People where sad when the gen 3 busa made 8 less hp than the gen 2 but on a dyno they have the same peak power, with the gen 3 having more midrange. I reckon it will be the same story with this 1100sx.

One of the most underwhelming update I've ever seen. They knew they had to keep the price similar otherwise I guess people would just laugh at them. Yes, losing a couple HP isn't actually a huge deal to the casual everyday riding, but the fact they hid that on the press release under the pretense of better torque shows they know people care about it. The Versys got the better end of the deal, and that still isn't saying much. Looks like Kawi is going full budget mode on the more powerful lineups whereas people have been waiting for actual updates for years. The H2, ZH2, Ninja 1100, Versys 1100 and Z900 lines could all use new designs and about 20 kilos less weight.

So why would someone pay the same, or maybe a bit more, for less performance? Not to mention that the suspension on the Suzuki is light years ahead... Glad to see someone continuing to improve on the traditional style of sport-touring motorcycle, which seem to be going extinct in favor of the upright crossover style of sport-tourer. Consolidating the power lower in the rev range is nice; I love it when more displacement means less effort instead of more aggression. You go Versys 1100 if you want the electronic suspension. H2SX if you also want the fancy cruise control (and a supercharger of course). I can understand them wanting to use the same engine, by why lower the spec when every other manufacturer is chasing the 150+ bhp range? Maybe they want to leave the H2 variant as the real muscle bike and not take away sales with a normally aspirated?

Not to date myself, but, back in the 70 and 80s the motorcycle magazines would publish true role on and quarter mile time. The Dynos tell only one story. These performance numbers really help in decision making if performance was the main goal. For example, at the time, my 1986 FJ1200 in one magazine was tested at 10.75 at 125 mph with a pro rider. A friend who had a 1987 Honda Hurrican 1000 and I could smoke him in top gear role Ons to about 110 and then he would cruse by but at the track we were almost same quarter mile times. In our group we had a Suzuki 1100 GS ES , GSXR 1100, Kawasaki Ninga 1000 and at that time we were only working with about 9500 rpms except for a FZR 1000 running at 10.85s at 133 mph at the most at the time. My best was 11.15 at 124 with a slipping clutch and 33,000 miles. Now, my 14 year old Concours 14 is the bike I wish Kawasaki would have continued and updated. You can't beat the torque and wind protection, and it does also offer better passenger room. Plus, using my bike as an example, no chain maintenance and just plain tuff. Actually, if there was any sport touring manufacturer who would advertise mid 10s and plus 130s in the quarter mile then I would buy.

Very well done your vids on updates! I own a 2021 Ninja1000sx and frankly I think it's a bit of a let-down this update. I was waiting for a new model to be released to change mine next year. By then I will have done 50000 km on it and I'm quite happy with it but I was looking for more substantial modifications. If there's something that needn't to be changed, it was the engine. What we get is a new engine with less hp and an insignificant increase of torque, wow! Just go on the UK's Kawasaki site and look ant the 2024 Ninja1000sx and the NEW Ninja1100sx, they're identical. I like the longer gearing, there you could have the impression that Kawasaki listens to the owners but what about the rear-tire, still a 50 section when on every Kawasaki Ninja Forum I visit, owners plebiscit a 55 section. No weight loss, no new features (I doubt the new connectivity will work better than the current one) no electric suspension, only some trick components but no Showa electronic suspension like the Versys. I won't spend money to put a bike in my garage that looks exactly like the one I've just sold... I think it's not a very bold move, considering that the competition now is wider that when the current model was introduced, you've got the other sport touring offerings (Super Duke GT, Suzuki 1000gt, BMW r1250rs and soon r1300rs) plus an array of other models which would interest potential crossshoping buyers of the Ninja, the crossover/talltourers/road biased adv bikes (Tracer 9gt, BMW s1000xr, Suzuki gsx1000gx, Ducati MSV2s...)

It should be a *sport* tourer. You cannot just loose power and get away with it. I am really disappointed. I wanted to do an upgrade but I think I will keep my 125 HP Z900.

I'm disappointed... the horses less and the absence of the optional electronic suspension are 2 points that leave the bitter in my mouth. the brembo brakes, are not even stylema. I was waiting for the announcement of MY 2025 to decide between this and the BMW 1000 XR and now I know I'm going to take the German.
@Stratocasterhead5123 күн бұрын
Yes. How can we possibly survive without stylema caliper brakes? Its absolutely insane! I'm surprised these bikes can even stop! And dont get me started on electronic suspension! How on earth can we possibly manage without it. The 1000sx was CRYING out for electronic suspension. Not BETTER suspension, just electronic. It just shit its pants as soon as any form of curve came into view. Insane choices from Kawasaki. Truly gobsmacked. I think you are right to go for the XR. The extra 8-10 grand are truly worth it. Joking aside. Get a Hayabusa. Larger, comfier, way more powerful, torquey, better suspension, brakes and it is iconic. Oh and it will be a good 3-4 grand cheaper than the XR. Probably more expensive to insure however.

I think you're right that it'll be hard to notice the change in peak power. I almost never hit peak power in my Multi 1200S. In first gear, it'll throw the TC on and...blow an engine once...and in second gear, it's at an illegal speed anywhere in the state.

No mention of the change to the chain adjustment that's moved away from the easy to adjust cam in the swing arm of the previous models to the std block and bolt adjustment. When I had the 2016 model it certainly was easier than going back and forth checking to see if the lines were evenly adjusted as opposed to simply having them move in unison.
@exothermal.sprocketАй бұрын
Probably less weight overall on that rear swingarm with those changes. Rear brake moved from beneath to above.

Uh, no. To disprove you all you need to do is go back and look at the 2010 model, then the updated 2014 model, then the updated 2017 model. They all look iteratively more and more modern. Granted, books are subjective, but really I've never heard anyone claim anything like this when comparing the evolution of design of this bike.
