Porsche is set to unveil the first-ever hybrid version of its iconic 911 sports car on May 28, 2024. This milestone marks a significant shift for the 911, integrating hybrid technology while maintaining its legendary performance and driving dynamics. Here’s a detailed look at what to expect from the 2025 Porsche 911 hybrid based on the latest information and U.S. specifications.
The 2025 Porsche 911 hybrid has undergone rigorous testing, covering over five million kilometers in various conditions, from the arctic cold to the desert heat of Dubai. This extensive development program ensures the new hybrid system meets Porsche’s high standards for performance and reliability.
The new 911 hybrid will feature a non-plug-in hybrid system, integrating a small electric motor with the traditional turbocharged flat-six engine. The electric motor is expected to produce between 60kW and 67kW, powered by a 2.0kWh battery pack. This battery is recharged through regenerative braking and the petrol engine, making it a self-sustaining hybrid system.
Despite the addition of hybrid components, the new system adds minimal weight-around 30kg-thanks to advanced engineering and development support from Rimac. This lightweight hybrid setup enhances the car’s performance without compromising its agility.
Combining the traditional power of the turbocharged flat-six engine with the additional boost from the hybrid system, the 2025 Porsche 911 hybrid is expected to deliver a total power output in the range of 650 to 700 horsepower. This significant increase positions the hybrid 911 closer to the performance level of the current GT2 RS model, known for its high-performance characteristics.
The hybrid 911 has already demonstrated its prowess on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, achieving a lap time of 7:16.934 minutes. This time is 8.7 seconds faster than its non-hybrid predecessor, showcasing the significant performance boost provided by the hybrid system. Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister highlighted the improved grip, power, and responsiveness of the hybrid model as key advantages.
While the detailed specifications are yet to be fully revealed, the hybrid 911 is expected to feature an updated headlight design inspired by the 2012 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 model, along with large Carrera S brakes. The hybrid system will likely be available on select variants, including the GTS and Turbo models.
Frank Moser, Vice President of the 911 and 718 model lines, emphasized that the hybrid system is designed to meet future emission standards while maintaining the 911’s sporty character. The integration of hybrid technology not only enhances performance but also prepares the 911 for a more sustainable future.

Completely agree with you! Porsches will never do this to a basic model. Just look in cayenne and Panamera family to conclude that’s not a real guess. Only top models will have over 600 (maybe 700-800 to top of the line), but basic will be around 400-450.

i believe this is wrong...... it could POSSIBLY reach that with the highest end turbos or GT3. However, it is expected at 500-550HP from what i've researched.

I was told that the hybrid system will be featured on the GTS and Turbo, Turbo S models only. Base Carrera and Carrera S will remain ICE powered only with a power bump on both models.
