The proportions at the rear look wrong somehow. Mudguards and exhaust look out of place... It's like they poorly disguised a Shotgun 650 into a Classic. Plus, the front mudguard usually covers the wheel a bit more on a classic. How did they miss that?
@jasondargonaut16 күн бұрын
They designed the chassis for the Super Meteor and then used it on the Shotgun. And now the classic. I agree they should have built a new chassis for the Classic 650. The suspensions also are firm much like the Shotgun.

Ppl saying that 240kg is unusable or insane probably never used a somewhat heavy bike for everyday commuting I personally use a 260kg Honda NT700 and i never had problems it being too heavy, even in tight city traffic. Only thing you have to remeber is to park smartly when uphill First bike was a NT650 with 250kg. Been riding for 3 years, no problem

@someguy952016 күн бұрын
@jaydiggy86 the weight wouldn't bother me on the super meteor Have ridden it a few times, but the long wheelbase and handlebar lock might be annoying in some circumstances in the city I would love to see a travel oriented 450. Nothing enduro, just touring The excellent fuel economy and added power over the 350 would make it ideal for commuting

Love this bike, although the fact that it's not a single is a bit baffling (although I've noticed that "Bullet" isn't in the name). I've been waiting for this since Enfield discontinued the Bullet 500. Can't wait to see one in person. Wish there were an Enfield dealer nearby. It's a trip to the closest one - and I don't care for that, as it's the type with several hundred dollar "document" fees, etc. Aside: Like many bike reviewers, you should consider reevaluating the "performance" category. It's off. HP, torque, etc. do not equate to performance.

Nice one but I don't know... To me something looks worse than on the 350. I don't really know what bothers me so much about the overall appearance of the Classic 650 - maybe it's the frame, which gives the bike a downward sloping line similar to the Meteor. I would like to see the two classics side by side...

Great review mate. To be honest I’m a bit disappointed in the bike. Looks like the same crappy rear shocks as fitted to the Meteor 650. And surely they could have made it as light as the Interceptor 650? 800mm seat height if my maximum tippy toe. And I’m sure it’s going to have a bad turning circle the same as the Meteor 650 due to those large diameter forks. But a great looking bike for sure. Nice flowing review, under pressure of being live and watched. I can’t do that yet. Top marks 🙏

RE churning out similar bikes using the 400, 450 and 650 cc engine is IMHO a sign of a short-sighted marketing strategy. My main issue is with the 650 engine which may be reliable but it is certainly underpowered at this displacement category. RE should tune this engine a little bit more aggressively, but I'm not sure if and how much more HPs it can produce before it starts being unreliable. Perhaps RE should start thinking of a new engine, at least 100 to 150 cc more that could produce at least 70 HP. RE as a company has been in my radar over the past few years but I'm confused with their marketing strategy of producing so many "parts bikes" based on only 2 or 3 engines.

Don't get me wrong, I love the look, the concept, the total retro vibe and the finish, but why have they got to weigh a bloomin' ton... C'mon guys get it on a diet

style for me is 5 out of 5. Performance should be compared considering price and style of the bike, For me Performance is at least 3.5. 2 for feature I can understand but for me that 2 is 5. I love RE. Specially Classic Bullet style bike. I grew up hoping one day I will buy bullet. Love this 650 version But that electric bike looks hideous. It doesn't go with Royal Enfield's Old school rough look/Vide. I am all about modernization but they could have designed it better.

The thing that is puzzling me is how, with every new 650 model, Royal Enfield just keep increasing the weight of the bike without increasing the power. All the new models introduced since the Super Meteor 650 have been 20-25 kg heavier than the Interceptor/Continental GT. I know they don't want to go beyond the 48 hp limit for A2 licence holders, but surely they can produce a more powerful motor than can be restricted. Triumph do it with the 900 cc Bonneville range. Even Harleys with the 1,745 cc Milwaukee-Eight 107 are available "A2 compliant". Why not RE?
@mugilandag16 күн бұрын
REs are not about speed and power. Since 60's REs are all about reliability and practicality for every day ride even if it's slow whilst looking cool. These days, it's all about enjoying the vibrations and feeling good whilst riding a modern classic bike.
@hectoraccented531216 күн бұрын
They sell the 865cc big bore mod (and people love it when installed, a lot more HP and torque, beautiful sound with new exhaust) , I hope someday they sell it as the standard motor, PLEASE RE !!
@francomartini432816 күн бұрын
@@hectoraccented5312 if you're going to spend two grand plus to have the TRW big bore kit installed by a professional shop (because it's not a do it yourself proposition), you might as well buy a Bonneville T100 and save yourself problems and aggravation and have a bike with a higher residual. If RE offered it from the factory, it would cost less, come with a warranty, and there would be no problems with insurers. But they don't.
@adityan320813 күн бұрын
I think they eventually will get on with it, they've just made a comeback half a decade ago, so they're taking things slow.
@francomartini432813 күн бұрын
@@adityan3208 at the time that they introduced the 650 twin platform, Royal Enfield were an Indian company with an overwhelmingly Indian customer base that had come under new ownership. This new ownership (Siddhartha Lal) had the ambition to carve out a slice of the First World pie for itself, leveraging RE's English heritage to do so whilst offering an exceptional value proposition. RE have certainly been very successful at this and they certainly have not been resting on their laurels, introducing at least two new models each year during the last three years. However, mechanically the only novelty over that timeframe has been the new 450 cc water-cooled single introduced with the Himalayan 450/Guerrilla 450. Where the 650 twin platform is concerned, the new frame introduced with the Super Meteor has allowed the range to be extended to six models (with the Bear 650 and the Classic 650 still to go on sale.) However, the 650 engine itself has been out for about seven years now with no meaningful change and the new 450 engine has added to the perception that it has gotten old, particularly when the two are compared on a hp per litre basis. As far as Royal Enfield's primary market India is concerned, the 650 twin is marginal in any case because most people can't afford anything larger than the 350, which is itself considered on the large side. Nor is the rest of South Asia much different in that respect with several countries penalising displacements over 125 cc. This means that the 650 competes above all with Japanese naked and retro bikes of similar displacement in Europe and North America and therefore should be judged against those. Is a low compression air-cooled engine competitive with detuned water-cooled sport bike engines? I think it is getting less so with each passing day.
@cameronm524815 күн бұрын
Not sure how you can be so 'meh' about it. It's beautiful and will make Enfield a lot of money. I can see waiting lists for it.
@auldflyer9 күн бұрын
The word "classic" in relation to motorcycles, cars etc. is generally used to describe a vehicle of some age (not new) with a valued history i.e. not junk. The current use of the cheap looking retro Royal Enfield plastic tank badges being stuck on the plethora of "motorcycles" oozing out of the Indian sub-continent hardly makes these bikes being "classic". Indian produced Bullet's of any variety will never be regarded asa true Classic's. The only RE bike truly deserving of Classic status is the 700cc Constellation, none of the current RE badged jiggly built piles of cachu resemble anything that will ever become a Classic with a big "C".........P.S. My very first bike (purchased in 1964) was a 1960/61 250cc Royal Enfield Crusader Sports, a sort of "mini" Constellation hence my reverance towards the RE of days gone by and total distain towards the cheap crap produced under that name today.
