The EPU is about 199 inches long, slightly shorter than the Tacoma, and similar in size to the Maverick. This makes it a good option for city and suburban buyers who need a smaller truck.
According to Cooper Ericksen, VP of Product Planning and Strategy for Toyota North America, the Stout could be based on the same platform as the RAV4 and Corolla. He mentioned that if the truck is for urban use and less extreme off-road, it would make sense to use the TNGA unibody platform.
Without official details from Toyota, we can look at the EPU concept truck for clues about the new Stout. The EPU has four doors and a split tailgate that can be used as a bed extender. The cockpit features a steering yoke like the Lexus RZ 450e and a touchscreen display panel that spans nearly the entire dashboard.
The EPU also has clever storage features. With the tailgate lowered, it can carry items up to 8 feet long. The bed has rails and attachment points for securing different loads, and there is extra storage space under the center console.
