I would argue that the 660 is a good step up from a beginner bike(500cc or less), where as the 800 is for more experienced riders, and after that no real need, or want for anything more.

Two very nice Sports now. Probably the 800 for me with better wind control and suspension but.... the 660 is now easily the best bang for the buck across the board!!

Love it - they’ve listened well done Triumph. Every bike that can happily sit at 70mph should have CC.

@@elizabethbooth-k8q It’s the only tech I believe genuinely worth having, the rest I’m not bothered about apart from maybe switchable ABS. It’s like modern cars now you can’t have one without the tech.
@spartanx169xАй бұрын
@@tsubadaikhan6332 You clearly don't appreciate the amount of research and testing that goes into adding CC to a bike. You don't just slap it on and hope for the best. You have to test it extensively to make sure it does not conflict with anything else on the bike. Then there is also the additional installation cost which in turn raises the price to the consumer. The Tiger 660 sport was a new entry and Pricing it competitively was more important than CC. I've own 18 bikes and never wanted CC. It takes away from the experience. Highway riding is also boring AF.
@iansmith237Ай бұрын
I know it'll never happen but the fact that they've included cruise control on the Sport 800, the Trident 660 and now this updated Sport 660 means they should make it available for at least a super discount for the Street Triple 765RS. While I know they won't, they should at least equip the new RS's with it. After all, it's the one thing that the MT-09 has over the Striple IMO.

Nice vid & bike, but I wonder why they didn't put the new 94bhp engine in it? I appreciate they almost certainly wanted to clearly differentiate it from the sportier Daytona 660 & new Tiger 800 Sport, but they would have sold more Tiger 660 Sports as a result imo. The Daytona 660 has a very different style & ergonomics etc while the Tiger 800 is a clear step up in every way, including price, so I don't see a 94bhp Tiger Sport 660 as a problem whatsoever.
@HernandecesАй бұрын
Would you pay 2k more for the 20hp difference the 800 offers? I wouldnt honestly. 2k for 40 more hp seems more reasonable to me. If they did upgrade the engine, I honestly dont see why you would go for the 800 at all
@ragerider6283Ай бұрын
@Hernandeces Fair point, but it's not just about the power. Bigger engine, more torque & better spec etc. However, I agree it would be a more difficult sales pitch potentially. Ultimately Triumph know what they're doing & this is deliberate so I guess you're right. : )
@bangkokbullmotoАй бұрын
used prices and therefore trade-in values of the 660 Tiger Sport have taken a battering recently, with some pre-reg examples well under 8k on eBay, so I doubt if anyone will trade up for the 800 or a new model 660 but lots of people will go for an ECU retune and maybe freer exhaust. Personally, I would like it to be 20mm lower (doable DIY) and under 200kg wet, and also start the moment you touch the button rather than churning away for more than a few seconds. A bigger gripe is not being able to have both the odometer and time on the same dial, possibly because the odometer is on a different section of software to stop it being messed with.

I pre-ordered a Tiger Sport 800, but looking at this bike updates I might save me $2800 usd and go for this instead... Yes I know the upgrades on the 800 are great, more power, better suspension. But, $2800 is a good amount of money that I could use to buy some hand guard, paniers and other upgrades I want to make this bike perfect. I ride an MT09 and I know the 800 would be closer in power to my bike, but I had an MT07 before and never thought I didn't have enough power, it just felt like it was not stable at high speeds on windy days. But this bike and the tiger sport 800 are basically the same size and weight, so I am sure they will basically feel the same on the highway. What turned me off from this bike before was not having a quickshifter and cruise control standard, but they fixed that now. It is also nice to see that Triumph are giving people the option to chose to pay more just for the power and upgrades that make sense. But still including cruise control and quickshifter on the cheaper models as well. Before it was either pay more to have the cruise control on a bike that costs around $4000 more or don't have it. That just makes people look elsewhere instead of paying more.

Yamaha should go for broke with the Tracer 7....no additional tech (unless you include TC) to retain the inherent analog feel, but some premium suspension front and rear would make the Tracer 7 best in class for the actual riding experience. People rave about the 660 triple motor but the CP2 is superior in my opinion. Cruise control on a bike like the 660 Sport is a gimmick. Don't get me wrong, I think the bike's great and I very nearly bought one a couple of years ago, but adding cheap software incrementally to maintain 'category leading status' is like Honda adding another riding mode option to the Transalp, when they should be fitting tubeless rims.

Agree - nice bikes. Triumph unlike some other manu-fuckturers, do try to stay i business. I'd go for the 800. Only - the rack for rear box, should have been included. Even if they, also, included a center stand wouldn't bankrupt them. And it's not just the extra cost ( obviously it is always, cheaper for the company to pre mount things ) - it is the ordering time, and and all the hassle around it. Some countries have limited seasons, limited dealer abilities.... These extra bothering with waiting....mounting.... = a very annnoooying pain in the ass ! So Triumph - DON'T be Honda - these bikes are COMMUTERS. They NEED to be equipped with mentioned over things, without any further input from the customers, after paying for these bikes !!!! ☝☝🤨

I wouldn't compare the Himalayan to the 850 Sport. Both bikes have plenty of character, but will be used for different duties. If I planned on doing more gravel roads and green lanes I'd definitely consider the Himalayan, or similar, but the 850 Sport is great for its intended purpose, which is a really comfy, really planted all round road bike, great for commuting, good for distance, good for spirited sunday blasts, easily manages a pillion plus luggage, and can also bimble off road...ideally, we'd have a different bike for every type of riding we do, but funding it is another story....
