Do these solar panels work with other brands. Like if I have an ecoflow could I use this panel?
@OffGridSolarSmartHouse Жыл бұрын
Yes they are universal but make sure that the DC input on the solar generator matches the solar panel.

Great video!! I'm back and forth with the idea of getting portable panels or some standard 200w that would only be used on the ground. I like the prices of the standard aluminum frame panels but they are so big and fragile. But is it worth the extra cost and reduced life expectancy by going with these portables?! 🤪
@OffGridSolarSmartHouse Жыл бұрын
Thanks Bucks! portable panels have their purpose. rigid panels are good for a set it and forget it situation. portable panels are good to deploy when needed or to use on the move. What would you be using your panels for?

@@OffGridSolarSmartHouse Strictly for backup power to my power bank. I have a gas generator and the ability to quick charge but it would be nice to have a solar option, (break glass in case of emergency) type of deal. I would 100% be using the panels on the ground on a tilt mounting bracket or using the portable kickstand. I have a max solar charging of 1300w with a 5k system. I would like to be able to charge via solar from 0-100% (when possible) in 7-8 hours. That means I need at least 800w of solar. Two of these portable bad boys or four 200w rigid panels 🤔 Any advice is appreciated!!

Allpowers portable panels are great and away cheaper than bluetti or ecoflows panels. With that said I wouldn't leave the portable panels outside to the elements for years. Portable panels are for as needed. If you build a moving rack system that would work or deployed when needed. If your trying to just leave them their rigid panels would be a better option as they are water proof. They are way heavier though.

@@OffGridSolarSmartHouse Think I'll pick up the Allpowers! Something about the portable 400w panels at that price point... Hard to pass up! Thank you 🙏

How waterproof are they, can you keep them up during a rain or snow storm?
@OffGridSolarSmartHouse Жыл бұрын
The panel is IP67 water resistant. Not really water proof. It will hold up in rain or show just don't let it sit in a puddle.

To me it's very awkward - if you were outside (grass/dirt/rocks/wind)) and wanted to adjust to follow the sun it would be a pain in butt.

I think portable solar panels should be looked at as a temporary solution. I'll give you some examples on how I would use one. My main system that powers my house is my Ac200 Max with a B300 at the moment. I have the enhanced charger with 1500 watts of rigid panels on the roof. Right now since its winter I'm only getting around 700 maybe 800 watts max from that array. So I have this 400 watt panel I can leave out and connect to the enhanced charger to bring in more. Now this is a temp solution. Another example is if I'm traveling.

I use mine when at home and take it with me along with my solar generator in my overland camper. Sorted.

Half the price of what?
@OffGridSolarSmartHouse Жыл бұрын
Half the price of bluetti and ecoflow 400 watt portable solar panels. I think at the time I made this video the price for this unit was 499.

@@OffGridSolarSmartHouse Thx for the answer, I had no idea what you meant, and you did not say in the video. I paid $560 (sale price) for my Bluetti 350 watt solar panel, and since the Alpowers is at $700, I did not think you meant the Bluetti. That said the Allpowers new 200 watt solar panel is a big improvement over their older model and quite a good panel. They are now using a different type of solar cell.
